Mom Pudge your post brought tears to my eyes. God was merciful and gave

Dudley a good passing, and I know this was a relief to all of you. Your

description was a beautiful thing. Please accept my condolences and give my

love to Kari when you speak to her.

Hi Guys,

I know you've missed us and we have missed you. Our dear BIL, Dudley,

died Tues. from his lung disease. I just happened to be there on my way

home from Lake Elsinore where I attended a funeral Saturday. I knew Dudley

was in the hosp. since I stopped to see him on my way down Thursday. He was

in bad shape by then and when I tried to leave town to get back home my car

transmission refused to work right so it went in the shop and I stayed at my

daughter Barbara's for the night.

The next day he went from bad to worse and it was evident that he wasn't

going to pull out of it like he has done so many times before so I called

Kari and she packed up clothes, kids and even DH and came right up.

He fell asleep in death at 4:20 pm on 4/03/01 at the age of 47. He was

so brave, no ranting or raving at God but just acceptance. He wanted his

wife, his brother, his sister and his very best friend at his side and

talked, cracked jokes, had some chocolate (his favorite food) and read a

little bit of his favorite book " To Kill a Mockingbird " . He was lucid right

down to the last moment. Because of the oxygen/heart rate ratio he would go

into crisis every time he urinated. He held his urine for 2 1/2 hrs. to

share his last moments with the ones and the things he loved the most and

then said " Well, this is it. I gotta go. " And left us with a smile on his

face holding his wifes' (soul mates) hands. He left behind his wife

Barbara, 6 kids and 4 grandkids plus big families on both sides.

He was a good man and will be sorely missed by all of us. I spent two

nights in that house and it was so full of Dudley that my eyes puddled up

constantly and I was so close to cracking after he died that I had to go

home.

Kari stayed with her sister to help and support her and is there even as

we speak. You know what a giving girl she is and she has great love for her

" Big Sis " .

Dudley gave his spirit up to God with the sure knowledge that he would

be remembered in the Resurrection. What a thing to happen just before Easter

when the dear lord himself was Resurrected. (apologies to non-Christians).

Love from a very sad Mom Pudge

Mom Pudge wrote to me and is having a difficult time. She has had 8 deaths

to deal with in 7 months. Kari is with her sister and helping her. If you

wish to drop Mom a note her address is

pudge@... as she may be on no mail.

Dear Mom and Kari,

I am so sorry that you and your family are dealing with death and sadness at a time of life and new beginnings. Don't ever feel the need to apologize to those of us of different faiths because one of the most wonderful things about being alive in the 21st century is the ability to respect good people no matter what their faith.

Dudley sounds like he was a brave and loving man and he has left behind a wonderful legacy in his family and deeds. It sounds like there are many who will remember him. You and all your family are in my heart and prayers. You know I am only 15 min away Sharon, so if you need an ear or anything when you get home just give a holler. I am driving the car again and can meet almost anywhere.

Love and (((((( hugs }}}}}

Barb, Lise and family
