I had one of those " You've lost weight " moments at the grocery store

this morning. This was from the woman who tends the fish counter. She

asked how I did it, but she was out in the aisle talking to a

customer, so I just said " patience " and moved on. Partly the notice is

because I wear less bulky clothing in summer, but it's a good lift and

positive reinforcement when someone comments.

Congrats, Bob!! Wooooooooohooooooo... doesn't it feel wonderful? I am getting some of that as well... as my jeans grow looser around my hips and thighs.. The more I lose.. the easier it is to stay on this program..

While dining out with others at a Mexican place last night (flour tortillas flying eveywhere.. yikes!..)... I enjoyed a huge plate of salad greens smothered in roasted chicken (simply ordered some roasted chicken breasts and tore them apart), 1/2 cup of beans in their own juice, salsa, guacamole and chopped onions. After mixing up the 'big mess' real well, I sprinkled a little bit of shredded cheddar cheese on it and it was fabulous!! Blending well to get the flavors to mingle is an important step. Also, the 'juice' the beans comes with really helps to combine everything nicely.

The night before, I ate out in an Italian restaurant and enjoyed a big salad (with all the low carb fixins') and then a plate of Chicken Pepperonto.. HOLD THE LINGUINI.. It was great... huge chunks of chicken cooked with green peppers, onions and mushrooms in a light tomato sauce. Again, I asked for a sprinkle of Parmegiana Cheese on top...

THere you have it.... eating out on scrumptious food and still losing weight.. Just takes a little bit of effort and ingenuity..

I can't wait til someone notices that I've lost weight! After 40

pounds, you'd think someone would notice.

Hi Bob, Congratulations on your weight loss and reaching your weight goal. It is nice when other people notice that you're losing weight. It makes me feel good when someone tells me that. I feel encouraged too.

ann,

I know that has to be disappointing. But it *will* happen. With me,

friends and family began commenting after I neared my third weight

goal (180 pounds). But coworkers and relative strangers didn't start

to comment about it until I'd lost the final 10 pounds. And the next

question was often " Did you do it on purpose? " I think that after

asking the question, it crossed their minds that weight loss might be

due to an illness like cancer.

Hang in there.

Hi Bob..

Hi Bob and ann,

Sometimes I think people might hestitate to mention it

because they think perhaps you just might be ill..

I know with a few people did finally ask him

if this was intentional or if in fact he perhaps was

hiding some illness..

So I totally agree with you there..

Exactly. I had the same experience as several times.

Me too. Most of the comments were heard " through the grapevine. " People were

afraid to ask. Some would come out and say something and add " I hope your

weight loss was intentional. "

Good point. I remember telling a parent of one of my students that

she looked really good (healthier, thinner, happier) and she told me

that she had had a brain tumor removed a few months before. Yikes!

Why didn't I know that??

I saw my father in law for the first time in over a year yesterday and I was so upset he did not say anything. Although I did not need to lose alot of weight (20-25 lbs.) I sure thought he would notice. But I think its true about being sick and losing weight. Also I was not wearing the most figure flattering outfit.stephhov wrote: > > Sometimes I think people might hestitate to mention it> because they think perhaps you just might be ill.. Good point. You would think so! Sometimes I think people notice but just don't know

what to say and don't want to say something that will be taken wrong.

Or it could happen the way it happened to me. Question: How are you

doing? Me: I've lost 40 pounds. Response: Oh you must be so

disappointed it's taken so long.

Huh?

Sometimes it's better not to take what others say (or don't say) too

seriously.

Congratulations on the 40 pound loss!
