..

Checked again and in my book it is 126. It is under Nuts on the Foods To Enjoy list. Look under that list and maybe you can find it. Probably pages changed when update, not sure. But I am sure they have the Foods to Enjoy list ..

There's nothing like that on p. 126 in either of my books.Maybe they screwed something up when they updated them?

I'd have to agree. I found lots of contradictory things in the book, but

went with the " concept " and all went fine.

To be honest, it doesn't really matter what's in the book anyway -- the food

lists have been updated several times now and the current list is available

in the file area for this group. :)

If you go to the group's website (see the footer of this and every message)

and click on FILES then PHASE ONE, you'll see the list. Here's what it has

for nuts:

NUTS AND SEEDS (Limit to one serving per day as specified. Dry roasted

recommended.)

Almonds - 15

Brazil Nuts - 4

Cashews - 15

Flax Seed - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Macadamia - 8

Peanut Butter, Natural, and other nut butters - 2 TBS

Peanuts, 20 small (May use dry roasted or boiled)

Pecans - 15

Pine Nuts (Pignolia) - 1 ounce

Pistachios - 30

Pumpkin Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Sesame Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Soy Nuts - 1/4 cup

Sunflower Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Walnuts - 15

Well, the information that is in the book still works fine. They haven't

taken away from the list -- they've expanded it as new information and

trials come in. SO, they'll be just fine; maybe a little grumpier because

they don't know they can enjoy certain things on phase 1 and such, but

nonetheless.... :)

The reason you can only have a few per day is that they are a huge diet buster. They are packed with calories and many people overeat them and can't stop. I know I can't eat them and lose and many people are like me. Carol

Re: Nuts per day

I can tell whoever wrote the book (whether it was the Dr. himself or a collaboration) is not a diet book writer. It's just not clear enough in many ways. It never says "have this many nuts per day maximum." One page says you need to have at least 2 snacks a day and nuts make a good snack (so, that would be two servings of nuts a day?) while another page says not to measure anything (really? ANYTHING?.) The good foods list doesn't say "or" between the different kinds of nuts, so can I assume that I can have 15 almonds AND 30 pistachios? It lists several meats, too. Can I only have one kind per day?See what I mean? When you're new to something, your mind can go all different ways and interpret the phrasing differently. That's why typical diet books are so plain in their language. They lay it out several times, using very exact wording.Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones - and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats.
