Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group, I'm glad you found us. I remember those early days on the prednisone...I couldn't sleep for more than 4-5 hours at a time. I felt like someone pushed me into sonic speed but then I would crash half way thru the day. It does get easier to handle as your dose comes down. I've been on the stuff for nearly a year now and I'm finally down to 5mg daily. How are your lab values? Serum cratinine? Urine protein? I'm assuming your protein spill is high which is why you are on the prednisone?? Well enough of me being nosy... Welcome again! Amy New Here! Hello! Hello there! My name is and I am a 35 yrold mom of two. I was diagnosed with unknown Kidney issues while pregnant with my second child, , who is now almost 18 mos old. I had a biopsy in December and was diagnosed with IgA. I started on Prednisone two months ago. ( bracing myself for the second IV treatment this week) I have had some interesting side effects to the prednisone.....I am sooooooo HYPER, and I am losing the weight I gained from far too long on bed rest! I just wanted to introduce myself, and say Hello. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the board. I am sorry you have been diagnosed with IgAN and having to endure this treatment while managing to raise two small children. They must keep you pretty busy but I am sure they bring so much joy into your lives. I want to encourage you that many of our members have had great success with Prednisone, and I certainly hope you join their ranks. If you have not yet had the chance to, you might consider reading through our sister site www.igan.ca where you will find lots of information on IgAN presented from a patient's perspective. Our founder, Pierre, put that site up too and it is a great resource. I wish you all the best with your treatments . Welcome again! Guest guest
Hi , Well, we will all hope it is the Prednisone. I am a big one for counting my blessings, so the increase in energy is at least a positive side effect, and has to help keeping up with two little ones. I am glad you have found the sites so informative. Our two biggest objectives are to inform and support. Guest guest
Thanks, . I have been " lurking " around the web site for about a year now. There is allot of great info there! My Neph thinks it is funny that when he shares some new information that he has discovered, I have probably already heard about it via the site or the " cafe " . It has just convinced me that you all do have some good, well rounded info, there is so much " doom and gloom " on the internet about IgAN. The Prednisone seems to be doing VERY well, although we will have to check the results after this second IV treatment. A month after the first treatment my test results were " dramatically " lower than previous results. Now, it is possible that this is a " blip " on the graph, in the last year I have had some " peaks " and " valleys " , and my Neph says that is unusual for the Prednisone to have made such a difference so fast. ( but I can cross my fingers can't I? LOL! ) The kids are actually a good thing right now, on my " good " days they can hardly keep up with me. I have more energy than I have had since I was 16! But the " bad " days are not so much fun! My 6 year old is really effected by my " bad " days. I am sooooo tired and have allot of flank pain, so the Tylenol 3's come out, and we make the best of it!
