I never cease to be amazed at this kind of stuff. What seems to me at least to

be obvious ( the need for the cscope) is not so obvious to this dumb doc.

Fuming-- Just need to vent

We got a call about 6pm that the GI Dr. Swartz does not think Phil needs a

colonoscopy!!!! I don't know about this guy he is acting like a horse's ass!

(sorry but that's mild for how I'm feeling)

The Onc and his CNP examined Phil this morning and did a rectal that showed

significant blood.

Dr. Rothman (the oncologist) was pretty upset at this turn of events so I

know he won't give up until he finds someone to take a look.

They say this level of anemia is generally a sign of bleeding. It is also a

side effect of Avastin if I'm not mistaken.

There are 2 Dr.s we could get for 2nd opinion one is a GI the other is a

Colorectal surgeon who did my colonoscopy.

The transfusion is still a go tomorrow morning at 8 AM eastern.

Thanks for the prayers and the opportunity to vent.

Narice,

like to know where this Dr. got his medical license diploma etc...I

suggest you definitely find a Dr. to do the scope......Let us

know....hugs Jana

Good going Narice!!!! See, persistance does pay off. Keep up the

good work and make them do their job.

Did the other GI doctor give a reason why he would not do the

colonoscopy?

Oh I thought I had told you why GI #1 wouldn't do it. He said because

bleeding is normal in stage 4 cancer and he didn't think it was necessary.

I told my Dad that. he told me back in 1991 when HIS dad had a recurrence of

colon cancer they told him that even though he was NOT doing chemo (MY

GRANDFATHER WAS 95!), that in the case of anemia they had to cauterize any

bleeding

or you spend your life having transfusions. So gang don't let anyone tell you

it isn't necessary as my dear grandfather would have said:

They're gol darn YAHOOS

(Use your imagination to transfer that to 21st century language)

I'm still kind of scared but at least i know we will be able to get the job

done. one day at a time

keep praying

love and prayers to all
