Guest guest
Since his diagnosis in January, I know he's started receiving insulin injections whereas he was only taking pills. I think he's now taking glucophage and another pill that helps enhance along with injections. He's been on break since late July with exception of taking Xeloda prior to surgery and starting back up a few weeks after surgery. Oncologist was going to start chemo again late Nov./Dec. after he healed. However, based on the new scans, he said he needed to start immediately. They just started him on CPT-11 infusion over 90 minute time frame and said they will release him to go home tomorrow. Since he hates being in hospital and can't stand being hooked to IV, we are afraid he'll regret choosing the chemo route since his body isn't quite ready yet and the CPT-11 could cause some of the symptoms that lead to dehydration and put him right back in the hospital. Thank you so much for sharing. Dedra Re: New to Group - Advanced Metastatic Colorec tal Can... Dedra: Tha'ts a hard decision, what does he take for his diabetes? Has it ever interacted with his chemo? Mayve a short break from chemo, a chance to get his appetitie back and a minute to review all his options is in order. Changes can occur rapidly,no one knows why, attitude plays a part, hope(faith) and to me belief both in God and in your own future make a difference. I will pray that you both make the right decision and that a small miracle will occur. Hugs prayers and positive thoughts jabe
Guest guest
Thanks. He chose to start chemo and began yesterday. His mind has been coming and going at times; therefore, I wanted to gather information in case he, my MIL or husband want or need more information. He seemed to be at himself yesterday when he chose to start chemo. Whatever he chooses, we're behind him 100%. Re: New to Group - Advanced Metastatic Colorec tal Can... It DOES sound like the Dr. is of the opinion that chemo may not add quality to his life. Seek another opinion, one you respect to be absolutely sure that other oncologist feel this way as well. Then with all this knowledge go to your FIL and see what he says. In the end barring total incapacitation it is HIS decision.
