Guest guest
My Dad was clean but since he has family history ,(my paternal grandfather), his Dr. said he wants him back in 3 years. That would be 2005 but Dad said he is going back before Christmas anyway because he doesn't feel comfortable with that especially now that Phil has cancer. Trust me the way may Dad carries on he'll get it. God help any Dr. who says NO to him!! Only the family knows his barks much worse than his bite! (LOL) So Cliff frankly I'd say YEARLY what would it hurt? May be clean may be a small polyp but I would rather be sure and not get caught. It should also be protocol for following up the chemo you were on to see how effective it is over time. So if your onc. or insurance doesn't go for it check with the drug companies maybe they will pay for it for research follow-up. I wish you the very best Cliff. May God bless you with continued good health. Narice
Guest guest
Hi Cliff and Dianne, Here's the link to our proposed guidelines. http://www.colorectal-cancer.net/pdf/proposal.pdf However, be aware that if you grow polyps rapidly or someone in your family does then you do need to be screened more often. Also, if the doctor suspects that your colon cancer developed from a " flat polyp " then you probably need to go more often because these are nearly impossible to detect in the very early stage. However, we strongly believe that the GCC-B1 blood test should be in use for surveillance of all colon cancer patients. This would significantly up the odds of detecting any return of the disease even before it can be detected by ANY of the screening methods. -Priscilla CCNetwork _________________ " Snoopy Walks to End Colon Cancer " October 17, 2004, Washington DC 5k Walk/Run www.colorectal-cancer.net > > > Date: 2004/09/08 Wed AM 11:09:34 EDT > To: colon_cancer_support > Subject: Re: Priscilla: colonoscopy frequency > >

Guest guest
My GI doctor didn't recommend that I have this colonoscopy. I forced the issue. I asked my oncologist and he said that if it was him, he'd have one done. I already knew that I wanted one but I wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mountain out of a molehill. Again, I'm looking at getting rescreened in two or three years. I have not had anything show up in two years so I think I'm ok for two more. I'm still going to be CT scanned, etc... so I think I'm ok. I was just fishing for more opinions to make an argument one way or the other. The more information one has, the better the decision a person can make. Miracles happen!
