Hi! I hope you read this because I couldn't find your email address

anywhere!

I am a relatively new member (unfortunately) and I was hoping maybe

you could give me some information. I have not " officially " been

diagnosed with Asherman's, but I am desperately seeking to learn

more. I have an appointment with Dr. San Roman on June 19th and I

saw your post, so I was hoping you would be a good resource for me.

Here's my story:

I had a D & C on November 30th, after discovering my baby had no

heartbeat at 13 weeks. The D & C went smoothly (or so I thought). My

doctor told me that he was able to remove all the tissue and he was

confident I would resume my period within 4 to 6 weeks. I had a

follow-up appointment with him about 10 days after the D & C, where he

did an internal and said everything looked good, and my uterus was

back to it's normal size.

After 6 weeks, I called my doctor's office to tell them I had not had

a period and a nurse told me, it could take as long as 8 weeks. At 8

weeks, I called again and was told that it could take as long as 10

weeks. Finally, completely frustrated at 12 weeks, I called my

doctor to make an appointment to discuss my options.

My doctor ordered some bloodwork to determine what my hormones levels

were. Everything came back " normal " . He then gave me a prescription

for Provera, to give me a period. Every time I saw him, I told him

that I was having severe (what I thought was PMS) cramping - unlike

anything I ever had in my life. But no period ever came. After

waiting 14 days after ther first round of Provera, with no period, my

doctor gave me another round. Again, 14 days and no period. I also

had a sonogram done to see if perhaps I had ovarian cysts. That was

negative. It was at this point that I started asking around on

various support boards, and was told about Ashermans.

I went back to my doctor after the second failed round of Provera and

I told me I wanted to have an HSG and I was concerned that I might

have Ashermans. He told me that it was unlikely I has Asherman, but

made an appointment for me to have a saline-infused sonogram later

that week.

That experience was torture! After not being able to insert the

cathetar, my doc had to dilate my cervixc, which was excrutiating,

but he was then able to insert the cathetar a little bit. Every time

he attempted to insert the saline, it would go in a little bit, then

just come pouring out. It was then that we decided I should have a

hysterocopy, so he could get a good look around and see what was

going on.

I should note that after the sonogram, I had a " period " for about a

day and a half, following by about 2 days of tiny bits of brown

appearing in my urine. I took that as a good sign, thinking

that maybe the little hole he made was allowing some built up

blood/tissue (I don't know) to seep out. Also, after the sonogram,

my cramps have been much, much better, and have almost subsided

completely.

My doctor discussed the hysteroscopy with me a bit and I had an

appointment with him this evening. My procedure was scheduled for on

5/23/03, but I just canceled everything this morning. I got cold

feet because, at the time of my last appointment, he had mentioned

the possibility of doing another D & C right then and there if he finds

alot of scar tissue. Now, after reading more about Ashermans, I was

VERY concerned about him saying that, since I have read that that is

the worst thing possible to do! So, I have decided to just wait

until my appointment next month with Dr. San Roman and let him take

it from there. After much anguish, I decided to listen to my gut

instincts. I pray I am making the right decision.

So, that's pretty much my story! I was hoping you could fill me in

on your experience with Dr. San Roman. Like I said, I don't even

know if I definately have A.S. at this point, but judging from the

advice and opinions I have gotten from everyone at the A.S. group, I

believe I do.

Can you tell how your treatment with him has been? How did he

determine you have A.S.? Are you still seeing him? Has he been able

to help you?

Anything insight you could give me would be so greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much.

Best wishes,

Donna S.

Donna,

I am not sure who this email was directed to. If you are from Long Island, why not try Dr. Palter or Dr. Copperman. They both have wonderful track records. Dr. San Roman has really only seen one patient.

Just my two cents...

Oops, I see it was Lou. She is not an active member at this point. She did have a procedure with Dr. Palter too. San Roman seems to be best for IVF treatment. Palter seems to be a better surgeon.

Donna,

Whew - I am so glad you cancelled your appointment!!! Way to go

learning to trust your gut. I was so worried when I read that he

wanted to do another D & C. Yikes!!

Please keep us updated on your progress and what Dr. Ramon has to say

(sorry I don't know him).
