As I have posted before, Questan is cholestyramine powder, originally

developed to lower cholesterol.

It's a bile absorber. Many of us have free flowing bile in our

GI tracts that causes the squitters. That's British for the runs.

Hospitals often give it to cancer patients who suffer with diarrhea during

chemotherapy.

It's not the most pleasant product, but it does work.

And it can constipate.

I used the orange flavored sugar free packets.

I find it very tolerable when mixed in a little skim milk or applesauce.

As far as mixing it in milk is concerned, I learned in the manufacturer's

newsletter to do that with a fork.

I gained a pound this past week. But, you know what I did? I had

gotten the blocks of lowfat cheese instead of buying the pre-shredded

stuff, and I ate two whole blocks of cheese!! I just sat there eating

and eating them. Plus, it was my hubby's vacation, and we went out to

eat once, and went to a church coffeehouse where I had hotdogs (no

roll), which are high in sodium. So, I figured I might not have done

so well. I'm just going back to buying the pre-shredded cheese, even

if it has potato starch in it, since I'm not tempted to eat that. The

blocks of cheese are just too tempting. I remember on Atkins, they

said not to exceed 4 ounces of hard cheese a day, as it can be a diet

buster. So, it's back to watching how much cheese I eat!

Yup, it is definately a diet buster for me. I seem to gain two pounds by morning if I eat too much, plus it constipates me horribly.

I do much better the shredded cheese also but have to remember not to put it on everything I eat. lol Carol
