Guest guest
, that sounds just like my sleep pattern for as long as I can remember. Being tired, and not being able to get to sleep, or falling right asleep and waking up in the small hours unable to doze off again. Waking up tired after hours of sleep sometimes. The thing that did the most for it was when the tetracycline started to work. It got a lot better. I think it's from the disease, and one of the things that is part of the inflammatory process also affects sleep (il6? I think) so it makes sense that an nsaid would help. The pain probably is part of it too. I've heard that chronic pain can deplete serotonin. And just having pain when you roll over in bed could keep you from getting to a deep sleep. I use soma (the generic--carisoprodol) now too, just a low dose, 1/2 tablet at bedtime is enough to help me get to sleep. 25 pills cost me about $11.50. Medi-cal doesn't cover it here, but at that price and the dose I am on, I can afford to pay for it. It also helps with muscle spasms I get in my feet and back, which is what I was originally prescribed it for. It worked so well for me with the sleep and as a stress-reducer, that the doc gives it to me for that now. Liz G
Guest guest
Hi I too find my sleep disturbed at night. Something that helps me is if I put a couple of drops essential oil of lavender on my pillow. Apparantly its been tried with elderly and small children and has shown to have been very effective. Worth a try maybe? Sweet dreams Carol W. rheumatic Sleep stuff >From: SC <sasc@...> > >I still have problems with sleeping. I wonder if any of you have >similar. Whether its FMS or what I dont know. Guest guest
Do you buy the popouri lavendar or sachet? I planted some lavendar last summer at the back door and it smells lovely. I should try to dry some and see if it works. I've never had much luck drying flowers. Bev > > Hi, > I sprinkle lavender essential oil on my pillow, also. Lavender is > suppose to relax. Guest guest
Bev Lavender is really easy to dry. Just hang it upside down in bunches. You could even hang some to dry by the side of your bed and you would get the scent as it was drying. I find proper essential oils best because you know its not chemically manufactured, and is actually from lavender itself. Guest guest
Thanks for the information Carol. That would be the perfect spot to hang it to dry, wouldn't it. I also planted a butterfly bush that was just loaded with butterflies and it smells heavenly. The health food store near us sells the essential oils in all the scents but I haven't looked into it yet. Bev > Bev > Lavender is really easy to dry. Just hang it upside down in bunches. Guest guest
Thank you for telling me about your friend. Hannah and I went to her sleep study and she " passed " with flying colors. She went into REM sleep each time she was allowed to nap for short periods of time and this is, apparently, a sure sign that she does have it. We will be seeing the doctor next week to discuss treatment options. I know that she will be given a stimulant. I was told by our p-doc that the treatment for the narcolepsy might be a bit hard on her OCD. At least life is never dull at my house. My youngest (13) was diagnosed with Asperger's this year, on top of her OCD and we found out six months ago that my oldest, the one with narcolepsy and OCD, also has a cyst in her brain that is most likely harmless. She is due to have it checked again and I'm a little nervous. Everyone keeps telling me it will be fine but they are the same people who kept telling me that it was very unlikely that has Asperger's and that Hannah has narcolepsy. Sigh. It could be worse. I have a friend with an eleven year old son who is non-verbal Autistic, an insulin dependent diabetic and has bi-polar disorder. I guess we are doing okay in my house!
