Guest guest
Where in Michigan??? I'm in Warren--outside Detroit. I'm new to all this with my 3 year old daughter. Occasionally she likes to have fries. Since we don't have the positive diagnosis yet, the dr just said to research & not change her diet...yet. About 2 weeks till we know for sure...I hope! > > I don't want to start another french fry debate, but please check with your local franchise. Guest guest
Thanks for the info! We go up to Petoskey about once/summer. West Branch is on the way...) Gabby will be happy! Guess I'll call my 's around here & check. My son is our FF addict! He'll be 2 on Valentine's day! We should have named him Spud! (Spud !Yech! about as bad as what he came to us as...Sergey! We adopted both from Russia.) Laurel > > I live Downriver (other side of Detroit!!). I've checked the Southgate and > locations closest to my house. Guest guest
I won't get involved in another fry debate either, but will state my opinion on eating out in general. In my opinion, no matter where you go, what franchise, what area, etc. etc. if you eat out you WILL get glutened from time to time. I went to Baja Fresh for lunch today and had the "tres tacos". There was so much food flying around back there that I could never recommend it to someone for fear of cross-contamination. I've seen the same thing at 's, Mc's, etc. I've even felt funny after eating at PF Chang's - I dine there once a week and it is usually great. I think it's like playing Russian roulette, only with gluten instead of bullets and with more than one chamber loaded. Philosophically, I think it's like anything else. We all know how bad smoking is for you, yet some people choose to do it. It's the same thing with cholesterol, trans-fats, etc., etc. If you choose to eat out with our disease, you are taking a risk. How risk averse you are is a personal decision - I eat out quite frequently with mixed results, but probably won't change due to my frequent travel requirements. --E Re: 's fries I don't want to start another french fry debate, but please check with your local franchise. Guest guest
Hi, I'm glad to hear you're both from that area. I'm originally from Detroit (East, just outside of GP) and I visit several times each year. (I'll actually be there in I'm always dragging my family to the Outback (which we love) but it would be great to know if there are other restaurants in the area that are gluten-friendly. My family is in Rochester Hills, Grosse Point, and St Clair Shores, so anywhere in the general Detroit area would work. Please let me know. Thanks! lucky3668@... wrote: I live Downriver (other side of Detroit!!). I've checked the Southgate and locations closest to my house. Guest guest
-- I grew up in Grosse Pointe...now in Warren. Just heard of a new GF store/deli in Clawson-- http://www.belcibo.com . A friend from church & her family are involved in it. Have not been there but word of mouth says it's great. I'll let you know if/when I come across any other spots in my searches! Guest guest
As always, be sure to ask your own questions, but at least around here I have been pleasantly surprised The 's closest to my work has a manager with a tomato allergy, so he definately gets cross contamination and the fact that you " just can't pick it off " and it be OK. Happy Birthday to your son! Tell him that someone you know will have some french fries in his honor that day On Thu, 09 Feb 2006 20:20:52 -0000, Laurel S wrote > Thanks for the info! Guest guest
I agree. We are all different and make our own decisions. I'm sure that I have done/said something that left someone else shaking their head on why I would do that!?!? This group is great for information and insight, but ultimately it is up to each one of us to decide what is right for us (or our children).
