Hi..

I have been doing WW for 3 weeks. Before that I was on Atkins. I have

followed my plan to the letter and even swim everyday. I have gained 5lbs!

What is going on? I drink my water... Please help.

Suzie,

Depending on how recently you went off Adkins, you could be stabilizing from

that. Those low carb diets are VERY dehydrating to your system (one of the

" miracles " of quick weight loss) and you're going to have to get back to

normal before you can start going down again w/the WW program.

I was on Atkins from May to October 1. I switched to WW because I was not

happy with the 11lbs I lost, and it's hard to convince your eating healthy

to your children when you hardly eat any fruit or veggies.

Did you just start swimming recently or have you been doing it all

along? The reason I ask is because a lot of times when you start a new

exercise routine you will retain water. Sometimes just being in the

water a lot will do it too. Last summer I went water skiing the day

before my weigh in and I gained three pounds! I had weighed myself the

day before we went and I was down a pound so I was really shocked to see

the scale jump three pounds in two days. My husband said it was due to

all the swimming and water skiing and said it would go away once my

muscles were done repairing themselves and he was right. A few days

later when I wasn't sore anymore my weight dropped right back down. Same

thing happened when I started Tae Kwon Do, I had a gain for a little

while and then went back to normal. So it if you are doing a new workout

it could just be that.
