Guest guest
I had to share this one! Stolen from another list as usual, LOL A daughter complained to her father about her life and how things were so hard for her. She didn't see how she was going to make it and wanted to give up; she was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed just as one problem was solved a new one arose. Her father, a chef, took her into the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon, the pots came to a boil. In one pot he placed long firm carrots, in the second he placed fresh eggs, and the last he placed ground coffee beans. Without saying a word, he let them sit and boil. Impatiently the daughter waited, wondering what he was doing. In about twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He pulled the carrots out of the first pot and placed them into a bowl. He pulled the eggs out of the second pot and placed them into another bowl. Last, he ladled the coffee into another bowl. Turning to her he asked, " What do you see? " " Carrots, eggs, and coffee, " she replied. He brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did, and noted that they were soft. Then he asked her to take an egg and break it. After peeling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. She smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. She asked, " What does all this mean, Father? " He explained that each of the items faced the same adversity---boiling water---but each reacted differently. The carrots went in strong, hard, and unrelenting---but after they were in the boiling water they became soft, weak. The egg had been fragile---its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water its inside became hardened. However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water. " Which are you, " he asked his daughter? " When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean? " How about it? Are you the carrot that seems hard, but with pain and adversity do you wilt and become soft and lose your strength? Are you the egg, which starts off with a malleable heart? Were you once a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a divorce, or a layoff did you become hardened and stiff? Your shell looks the same, but inside are you bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and heart? Or are you like the coffee bean? The bean changes the hot water---the thing that is bringing the pain to its peak flavor reaches 212 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water gets the hottest, it just tastes better. How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean? Bye-bye Torsten, dad of Fiona 4wcf e-mail: aberdeen95@...

Guest guest
Well, not that I want the whole world to know, but I'm taking Meridia too! I got all the info about Xenical, but couldn't stand the bowel issues. My endocrinologist put me on it because I gained 25 pounds last year when I lost my thyroid and the synthetic thyroid wasn't working. I lost 15 pounds in one month, just like that! I feel so much better, and my new thyroid medication is right, too. I'm going home this summer to Alaska for the first time in 5 years, and I can't go back fat! I love the Meridia, I have no side effects or yucky feelings, it simply makes me feel not hungry. And, I was exercising religiously and losing like crazy, but when Shantell got sick again and I started focusing on her IV's etc..so I quit going. Then the gym I was going to right up the street closed, went out of business. If I went to aerobics I'd have to drive about 45 minutes to get there before work. Uggggghhhhhhh! You're not alone Becky! Guest guest
I took Meridia too... It was good for about 15 lb. off for me, then it really stopped working. So I'm trying Xenical and doing pretty good with it. It was my last choice too because of the bowel stuff, but as long as you're careful with what you eat it's okay.
