Just found out that I have fibroids, am going for the

ultrasound on Nov. 4. There are so many different options, should

I just try to live with them? My mom had breast cancer and it

terrifies me that these fibroids may turn into cancer. Be praying

for me....Thanks....Lori

I would say that how much time you have to " wait and see " depends on the

severity of your symptoms. I would recommend that you do find out all you can

about fibroids and the treatments available to you. This group is a great

start, Carlas website www.uterinefibroids.com is a great resource as well for

books, treatment descriptions etc.

You didn't mention how large your fibroids are. Since you are in your late 40's

you may be able to wait until menopause starts, since fibroids usually shrink

after menopause. It's such an individual decision. Just make sure you research

your options enough to feel comfortable about making an informed decision about

your fibroids.

Hope this helps.

oke,

Thanks for your response below, and for your understanding. I do

agree with one of your comments re: watch and wait and potential

impact on future child-bearing. I purposely chose to have a myo

last September at the urging of my gynocologist, so that I got rid

of the fibroids now and had time to heal before I was ready to try

to have children. (Now that I'm healthy, all I need is " Mr.

Right " ! :-)

Interesting, though - everyone's situation is different. I was

quite intrigued by Dr. 's presentation at the " Opening Doors "

gathering in Monterey. He doesn't rush his patients into treatment

of ASYMPTOMATIC fibroids, and followed up at my request by sharing

some information from clinical studies that supports his conclusion

that a number of women can successfully conceive and carry a baby to

term while having fibroids. Of course, all of that depends on size

and location of fibroids - so another reason for women to undergo

diagnostics to at least understand their specific situation and

potential impact on fertility.

I'd recommend Dr. 's book " A Gynecologist's Second Opinion " -

it's chock full of very useful information about our gynecological

health, and not just about fibroids.

Vicky, Welcome to our group but sad you have to be here. I'm 57 and have PLS

since 1995. I know you have many question to ask. Nothing is off limits

with this group. They all are a loving caring group. We laugh, cry, and even

say prayers for each other. You'll find that we are different in our

progression with PLS. Some are more effected then others with our disabilities.

I use

a walker for my daily use my balance is really bad without my walker I'd be

lost without it. If you already haven't found the SPF site please do it is full

of many answers for

you.............................http://www.sp-foundation.org............there

are a few more but this will get you started in finding

out more about PLS. We still don't have a cure but I think that the future

looks good. You're going to go though many life changing experiences but to

deal

with this you need to keep a good attitude and try to make the best of your

life. We're not going to die from PLS but we can make how we deal with it a

little easier..................So just ask any questions or concerns you have

someone will answer you. Were are you from?.............Flora

Vicky you are needed in this group. I'm sorry you have PLS but this

is a good group and I know you will find great help here. There are

so many ways we raise money for research. We have a special place to

buy - good for Christmas gifts - it donates a portion to PLS

research - thanks to . I buy all I can from there.

We have such a wonderful group of people and you will soon see all

their great personalities.

Welcome,

Donna

and only in my legs until a few years ago. Now it is affecting my upper

body. It has progressed slowly for me. And I hope for you too. Welcome!

Well you have to meet our strict acceptance standards... First you have to

know what PLS stands for or at least be able to spell PLS... Second, you

have to have a badge, no scratch that, we don't need no stinkin badges...

Third... let's see, third??? You know come to think of it we are kind of a

loose group here... Oh, what the heck, welcome Vicky, so sorry you had to

find us, just happy you did, you have found a home here.

>>Morning Cortisol (5:15am) 6.6 range (ng/ml) 3.7-9.5

Noon Cortisol (11:45am) 1.1 1.2-3.0

Evening Cortisol (5:15pm) 0.9 0.6-1.9

Night Cortisol (10:00pm) 0.2 0.4-1.0<<

HC is Hydrocortisone which is bioidentical Cortisol. I do nto believe you need

anything that strong. I would suspect wiht good herbals, possibly licorice root

and proper thyroid treatment your adrneals can come back without going as far as

HC.
