I am with on this, there is no way I would let them do that to me

while I'm awake. The thought of it makes me feel like fainting!

Barry,

When he went to get the referral and the dr. suggested that he could do it

in the surgery nearly fainted. He said he needed to be totally

knocked out. He even got knocked out once to have two fillings! But when

it comes to do suppositories or boogie sucking or anything for Eilish

(except taking her to theatre) he's great. I'll let you know how he

survives.

Barry,

you opened yourself up to this one.....

Can you imagine, just for ..let's say 24 hours or so... your guts turning

inside out....then your most private of parts, that is, it used to be

private, before anyone with a glove and a tube of lubricant decided they

wanted to take a look, starts to stretch to about the size of a soccer

ball, and while the whole room watches and cheers a human being is

expelled.

AND YES, WE STAY AWAKE FOR THE ENTIRE PROCESS...and are actually quite

proud if we can say we did it all without any drugs......

suck it up big boy....you can handle it and maybe that sweet woman in

your life will bring you an ice cream when it's all over.....remember no

crying in Baseball...

Hello,

We found out that our daughter Gwendolynn (now 7) had CF until just after

her 5th birthday. By that time I already had my tubes cut. We decided before

Gwendolynn was born that we would only have one child. CF was not involved

in that decision.

All came up after the diagnose of Gwendolynn. De doctor focussed our

attention on having IVF to get an other, healthy, child. For this procedure

no tubes needed! We were 35 en 36 at that time, so age was no problem.

But we had considered our decision to have only one child very carefully. We

worked both and my husband is in the navy and a lot of the time not at home.

So there should be enough time for the child left.

We just thought about it one day and that said to eachother that our

decision still stood. No more children!

When times are not as good and I was up most of the nights for a week or so,

I really think this is a good decision. I just think I could not handle more

children, even as they did not have CF.

But all people have to decide for themselves and I shall never criticize

someone who wants more children (even if they have CF). I love Gwendolynn

very much and cannot imagine to not have known her!

What worries me the most is not the length of her life (or ours), but the

quality of it. CF has not affected her much yet, but who knows what the

future will bring.

One advantage of having one child is, that you can have some time for

yourself. When my husband takes care of Gwendolynn, I can do something else

and have no other children to attend to.

CF has changed our lives. Some things are more important, other less. Our

careers are over. My husband is still in the navy, but does not have to go

to sea anymore. This also means that he will not get a higher rank. I

changed my job for a lighter one, in our hometown. I also have a business of

my own. I cut that by half. So we have more time to enjoy life with

Gwendolynn. I don't think this things hurt us in any way!

As I said some things are not as important as they seemed before.
