We both named Seaside as our choice for a vacation AND for a place to live. Sigh. If we were ONLY a dot com, and not walk in, we could do it anywhere, even on the edge of the earth. LOL! But I toy with the concept probably once/week. When we were younger & had kids at home, we used to save our money $1 at a time, and when we had enough, we had a coupon for our fave place, buy 2, get one night free. And we brought all our own food, and send the kids to their dad's, and take off 4 hours early and go. Surprisingly, with almost no money in our miserable jobs, we went more often than when he got a much better job. What's up with that? Of course, NOW we have to board the pets. That's not exactly " Seaside " but pretty close. We live in a lakeside community (fresh water) that has a nice little beach for swimming, a park and playground for the children and lots and lots of trees. My in-laws have a beach house/cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The cottage is situated on one of the last " undeveloped " beaches on the Outer Banks. Wild horses roam all over Carova Beach and there are no stores, shops or " real roads " save for the beach roads which are sand. There is a Rescue Station and one pay phone outside that sometimes works but most times doesn't. Corolla Beach (Corolla Lighthouse) is located 10 miles down the beach towards Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head. If you want groceries, restaurants, shopping, etc., you head that way.
