Guest guest
Terri, It takes time to figure out what is causing problems. In the worst case you can do a true " elimination diet " , but you may be able to avoid that depending on the degree of problems. Try eliminating a few categories of foods that you suspect. Eliminate enough things to reduce or suppress an especially bothersome symptom. Then add things back one at a time. Eat the item for a few days, tracking whether it causes symptoms. If it does, eliminate it and get rid of the symptom again. Then add another food. And so on. It really pays to become a careful experimental scientist in dealing with food intake. I notice if I eat broccoli, greens, or garlic, or if I take ALA (on frequent low dose), I can get very dizzy and spacey, eyes get blurry. The effect varies somewhat - sometimes not at all, sometimes very bad. Lately it's been bad. I'm reluctant to avoid them completely since these foods are so good on many dimensions, and I have always loved them. But when these reactions are bad, I really can't eat them. I do not have this reaction to eggs and dairy, though when I was chelating on a bad protocol I had strong aversion to broccoli and eggs and somewhat to dairy - felt ill if I ate them. That seems like it was a sulfation problem - I'm thinking the other problem is redistribution issues. But I don't have trouble with MSM, NAC and some other sulfur foods - so not sure. Avoiding sulfur foods can be helpful for allergies (if you have high plasma cysteine, according to Andy). I guess maybe you don't have high plasma cysteine. Are you saying that eating sulfur foods actually helps your allergies? -- > At the risk of sounding stupid here, how do you know if you have problems > with sulfur related foods - do you experience symptoms immediately after > eating?
