Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I just got scheduled yesterday - my surgery is on the 1st of December. I'm still in shock. I figured it was just going to be another weigh-in appointment - but it turned out that I had dropped over 5 lb. in the last 2 weeks and am now only 3 lb. from my pre-surgery goal weight. Wow! They weren't kidding when they said that things would happen quickly once I was close to my goal. Instead of just getting weighed in .. . . I was swept off to see (the case manager) who gave me a surgery date, gave me a bunch of paperwork, set me up with more appointments, then sent me off for more blood work and a second EKG. She also called Dr. Baggs and he was nice enough to drop in for a few moments. Chris even managed to get me in to see Pat Ridgeway (or something like that - I'm not sure of her last name) who did a physical and went over the anesthesia questionnaire with me. Whew! what a day! My sister has been planning to fly down from Anchorage to stay with me, but neither one of us expected my surgery to be so soon. But the fates must be with us because she had no trouble getting a flight scheduled even though she'll be travelling over Thankgiving weekend. Looks like I've got a lot to be thankful for this year. I don't think the reality of this has sunk in yet. Leastwise I don't feel as nervous yet as I expect to be in days to come. Take care, Kay deb300m2000 wrote: Hi Kay, It wasn't too bad. They give you plenty of pain meds and check on you a lot and get you up and around pretty quick. You don't get a lot of sleep as they are doing something every two to four hours. But for me I was only there one night and went home the next evening, of course that is with no complications! You will do great and you just have to keep your mind on the ultimate goal! Every day you should feel better. When is your surgery scheduled? any other questions just ask! Later, Debbie
