Sleep Survey

Hi All. Bob snored quite loudly and tossed and turned excessively for years

before he was dx'd with SDS. At one time he would talk and yell out loud - I

would not say he was violent. We thought he had sleep apnea and he was

scheduled for sleep tests but each time something came up like a broken arm

one time and another time the flu. Now and for the past couple of years he

sleeps in the hospital bed and rarely snores at all. He doesn't even move.

That does not mean he has a restful night. He is disturbed by the need to

urinate and I have to help him to the commode or he is disturbed by the

" little people " , or sometimes a man standing at the foot of the bed and he

wakes me to ask about him. Of course there is no one there. He may go to

bed early around 9PM but then at 4AM he wants to get up for the day. I try

to keep a journal and I find that the more sinemet, mirapex or Parkinson Meds

the more he is disturbed but when they are cut down he is more crippled and

can barely move to function at all. It is a challenge to keep him

functioning and moving. He takes Seraquel to help with the " hallucinations " .

I wouldn't describe his dreams, tossing and turning, and talking out

as violent - in comparison to others I have heard - but they were quite loud

and the kids and others were aware because he snored and roared like a lion

as we would describe it. Now that he has been dx'd and in looking back - it's

been quite a few years since he has snored and roared.

Happy New Year to all from Pat and Bob in Framingham

Massachusetts
