Words have new meanings after DMPS

I have done chelation twice. Once a DMPS challenge test, and once a

three day stint of a total of 600mg. Different doctors. Both doctors

told me it was safe. The first time my muscles hurt so badly I couldn't

move for three days. It was disabling. The second time I as very sick

for a week. All my symptoms were amplified. I still went to work. It

was a hellish week. I suffered greatly in the evenings. Symptoms

settled down but it took a total of a month for things to return to

" normal " .

I had read Andy's book before the first time. Who was I to believe.

The doctor in front of me who specialized in chelating people and

chelated tens of people a week, or this self published poorly edited

oddly organized tirade against mercury and bad chelation procedures.

The first time I saw the book I rejected it. After having a bad

reaction to DMPS the first time, a friend who had gone through

chelation insisted that Cutler called everything right that happened to

me. So I went back. Indeed there was information there that was

useful. But you really had to work at it. So many rules about what to

do and what not to do. But not enough explanations of why.

I got too sick to stay with the chelation doctor. The chelation doctor

made it contractually clear that he was not a primary physician. I went

to my ND to help with many of the problems I was having. Ringing of the

ears, crippling sensitivity to sound in the evenings, exhaustion, sleep

problems and others. My ND did chelation. I wasn't aware of this

until I told him about my first experience with DMPS. As I said, the

second attempt with chelation was hellish. My ND had never seen such a

reaction.

After that I insisted that we use the Cutler protocol. He had never

heard of it. But he was very cooperative. I loaned him the Cutler book

and he did actually write to Andy and get a name of another ND he could

talk to about the procedure. I was thrilled my ND was not only willing

to cooperate, but he was starting to look at the Cutler info on his

own. I will be starting the Cutler protocol Monday. I have high hopes

that it will be much less hellish. (Amazing what I'll settle for.)

Finally to get to the subject of this rant, the meaning of the words in

the Cutler book changed over time. They went from a tirade to something

very meaningful. The pain caused by misuse of DMPS emphasized who was

wrong and who was right. and gave the words in Andy's book new meaning,

new importance. What I have gathered over time is that Andy is cautious

and the protocol accounts for risks. So when I see " some people just

don't want to listen " , I have a great deal of sympathy for the people

that " don't listen " . It's more than a matter of listening. It's a

matter of understanding. Visceral pain can change the meaning and

importance of words . And it works in both directions. I don't think

I'll ever trust the words " it's perfectly safe " again.

What I don't understand is why my chelation doctor was so surprised at

my reaction. He just said it was " low minerals " . Not very

communicative. I'm not surprised my ND hasn't seen it. He doesn't do a

lot of chelation for mercury. But I am puzzled about why the people who

he got his protocol from didn't make it clear that some people have a

lot of trouble. My ND is very communicative. I have never been so much

an active part of my treatment as I have with this mercury poisoning.

I'm going to stick with my ND because even if he is not as experienced

with chelating mercury as I'd like, he is very willing to work with me,

and he has shown himself to be very knowledgeable.

I have wished more than once that Andy would rewrite his book with the

help of a professional editor. As it is, it is still a public service.
