Guest guest
I've had 2 GSDL salivary cortisol tests from an alternative md- both came back as cortisol OK first thing in am, then plummeting to a fraction above abnormal later on in the day. Later, a " real " endocrinologist did a fasting am blood test and pronounced me fine (does not believe saliva tests are accurate). Another blood test by a diff doc actually showed my fasting AM cortisol to be too high. My blood pressure seems to fluctuate between either too high (up to 150/90) or too low (as low as 99/60). Used to be hypoglycemic, but now (post amalgam removal- not sure if related) I am either usually normal or a little high (fasting am is sometimes in the 90s). Body temp is almost never 98 and up (using digital oral therm). Haven't tried Andy's suggestion of non-digital oral therm for 5 mins after waking, but with digital, am reading is sometimes between 96-97. Whew! Ok, history done... my problem is exhaustion. I never have a lot of energy and I quickly burn off any I do have when exerting myself. I think Andy recommends either a 24 hour saliva test from doctor's data or a urine cortisol test. Which do you think would be more appropriate in my situation? It seems the endocrinologist will not budge in her decision that I am fine, so I have to go with the alternative doc. Thanks in advance, all! - JB
