HI ,

Minute Maid light Lemonade is really good. It is sugar free and very tasty. There are also decaf tea at Trader Joe's. I found a really interesting one called Creme Caramel Tea. It really does give a flavor of Carmel without the guilt. It is great that you are doing so well. Wait until you go for your Post-op check up so see how much you have lost. I thought it was so great when I went and saw the scale.

I'm pre-op but have read that many experience queasy stomachs first

thing in the morning. They feel it is because of post nasal drip

into the stomach during the night. It was recommended to drink a

little water first thing or something warm like herbal tea with just

a bit of peppermint extract in it. Ginger also help to soothe an

upset stomach BUT ginger can act as a blood thinner so is not

recommended unless the surgeon says it is OK.

Glad to hear you are doing so well.

Have you tried Propel water? It is lightly fruit flavored, made by

Gatorade and uses Splenda. I really like it and it comes in 3

flavors. Costco has it by the case which is a big savings on cost.

But highly recommend buying a bottle at the grocery store to try

first.

Regarding what to drink. I have found many alternatives to water & Crystal

Light!! SoBe Lean is sugar free and I've found it in Peach Ice Tea, Tropcial,

and Cranberry Grapefruit flavors. There's also Propel, but it does have

a little bit of sugar in it. At Costco, I've found 2 different drinks I

like as well. One of them is called Aloe Splash and comes in four flavors

(I can't remember all the flavors off the top of my head, but there's Mountain

Berry, I think Strawberry-Kiwi, Mandarin Orange, and I just cannot remember

the fourth flavor). The other one is Diet Ice Botanicals - also comes in

4 flavors: Key Lime (which I think is pretty gross), something orange that

I don't care for either, Strawberry-Kiwi (really good!), and some sort of

berry flavor that I also really like a lot! Aloe Splash and Diet Ice Botanicals

are both sweetened with Splenda and are a little too sweet for my new tastes,

so I cut them with water.

Keep up the great work - you're doing fabulous!!

Hugs & happy holidays!

Propel comes in more than 3 flavors, but the cases that Costco sells

only has Strawberry-Kiwi, Berry, and Lemon flavors. I've seen Peach and

some other flavors at Safeway.

When I was newly post-op, Propel was too strong for me. So I diluted it half-and-half with water, and it went down just fine. I never had any problem with what to drink, because just to get in my water was hard enough! Definitely avoid milk, though -- it can cause major gas and stomach pain/diarrhea.

Sounds like you're doing just great!

I like some of the herbal teas, although do avoid the ones with " medical "

claims. I like mint, Lemon Zinger, things like that.

Yup, it's normal! You have just had major surgery, and it does take time to

recover. Just keep getting your protein, water, and vitamins, and it does get

better. Hey, I've been able to keep up with my three-year-old son at the San

Francisco Zoo two days in a row now. And yesterday, after getting home from the

zoo, I took him in the stroller and went shopping up on Telegraph Avenue at all

the street vendors. Yeah, I'm in Berkeley, and it's fun to get people little

things that are classic Berkeley!

I'm trying to remember, but I think it was several weeks before I felt my energy

return. Now my energy level is higher than ever, and I feel twenty years

younger!

Hope that helps some.
