Guest guest
Hi Vickie, Great going! I know that year of waiting has been frustrating, but things should definitely speed up from now on. Geez . . . March 15 is this coming Monday. How cool! How soon you get your surgery date will be dependent upon how fast you lose your 10%. You will probably be asked to lose 26 pounds and they'll go ahead and schedule you when you are within 5 pounds of your goal. I don't know if they take your height into consideration in determining your goal weight - please let us know if they do. I am just curious. (At only 5'1", I am a bit envious of you tall folks.) Sorry, I can't answer your question about the CPAP - I have no experience there. Please, let us know how things progress. The young lady () said see you Monday! This should speed things up, I almost didn't call thinking that I would be rocking the boat, it turns out I just manuevered it into a faster shipping lane! I just checked Kaiser online and new appointment is all booked, I also asked if I should have an appt. with the surgeon yet and she confirmed that I will have that scheduled after orientation. Although this is going on a year of waiting I am seeing some progress now and I am so thankful that Kaiser is seeing that my health is looked after. I am also helping things along by "rocking the boat". I am very happy for all of you who are getting your dates, I am checking in on your updated profiles and am encouraged by your stories. If anyone can provide info. on how much longer it may be after oreintation that I can expect a surgery date, I would greatly appriciate it. With a BMI of 40 how much will I be required to lose? I am currently 260 lbs but tall at 5'7" I have had severe sleep apnea since 210 lbs and suspect that I need my pressure upped on my cpap at this point, anyone gain after using cpap? Did you need pressure adjusted? I hope I can lose that machine someday! -Vickie

Guest guest
Vickie: My orientation was on April 3, 2003 and my surgery was June 3, 2003. From orientation to surgery I lost 35 lbs, but I was VERY motivated. I followed the 1200 cal meal plan to the tee, and I exercised 7 days a week for one hour (cardio, free weights and abs). Regarding sleep apnea, while I don't have it, I snored very heavily before surgery. My parter tells me that I've gone from the roar of a lion to the purr of a kitten. In other words, I don't snore at all anymore. Hopefully, you will see a great improvement of your sleep apnea. Best of luck to you, Gemello -128 lbs > My Richmond orientation was going to be April 6, but thought it > would not hurt to ask to attend an earlier one, apparently there is > room for me at March 15 orientation! Guest guest
When you weigh in at Orientation they will tell you to lose 10% or 26 lbs if you weigh 260 that day. When you are within 5 lbs of that they will schedule surgery. It looks like they are scheduling within 3 to 5 weeks after you reach within 5 lbs of goal.
