Dear Aisha and all others in the group.....

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on Remicade

and/or Enbrel. I had an appt. with my Rheumy today. I have been on

the Methotrexate since the middle of Sept. and on the Plaquenil

since June. Since I haven't had any signs of improvement, he

increased my methotrexate to 20 mg from 15mg (1xwk). He also

mentioned the possiblity of adding Remicade or Enbrel in the near

future if the methotrexate still wasn't helping. I didn't think

much about it since he instructed me to increase the methotrexate

and he would reevalute at my next appt in 2 mos.

Well, I almost fell off my computer chair when he called me AT HOME

TONIGHT!!!! I don't think I ever had a doctor do that on his own!

LOL But anyway, he said he had thought more about my case and was

doing some research on the computer. He wants me to stop in the

office tommorrow to pick up some info on these two drugs (although

he is leaning towards the Remicade) and call him after I have

reviewed it and thought about it. He's now talking about the

possiblity of waiting 2 more weeks to see how the methotrexate goes,

and then if there's no improvement, starting preferably on the

Remicade.

I know I have seen posts on the Remicade before, but I didn't

really pay much attention to them. (Is on it?) So I would

really appreciate it if you can help me out here with some advice.

Are there serious risks here? Side effects? Success rates? Any

comments or suggestions would be helpful. (I have looked at the

websites, but I would feel better hearing it from people in the

group who I trust.) Thanks a lot. Luv, Debbie T.
