Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. You have joined a great group with a wealth if information just for the asking. Usually you are on the clear liquids for a day after surgery then you move on to the modified meal plan. It depends on your surgeon as to how long you will be on the stage 2. I was on there until I saw my surgeon a little over 2 weeks. You really don't want to hurry things too much because you have to remember that you have a new little tummy and it is very prone to irritation in the beginning. Take care and ask as many questions as you need to. Ramona
Guest guest
Hi , Welcome aboard. I have found this group to be an invaluable source of encouragement, support and information. I hope that it proves to be the same for you. I was on clear liquids (Stage 1) for only one meal - my breakfast in the hospital. I was on "modified full liquids" (Stage 2) for about 2 weeks. By the end of those 2 weeks, I was thoroughly sick of Cream of Wheat, pudding and so on. That first scrambled egg is one of the best meals I've ever had. When is your first follow-up appointment with your surgeon? I think that one is generally cleared to move on to the Stage 3 diet at that appointment. While I'm asking questions - where was your surgery and who was your surgeon? How are you feeling? Are you getting in your water O.K.? Please feel free to ask anything that comes to mind. I look forward to getting to know you better. Take care, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 swimmin108 wrote: I have been working my way around this site and it looks like it will be a valuable source of insperation, knowledge and support so I wanted to introduce myself. My name is and I am 37 years old and one week post-op. Everything is going well so far but I know there will be bumps in the road. I am anxiously awaiting my first scrambled egg. What is the average time people spent on the liquids before attempting their first meal? Thank you
Guest guest
Hi ! Welcome to the group and congratulations on your recent surgery! I am 1 year post-op as of last Sunday. I was able to eat scrambled egg when I was about 10 days post-op. Some surgeons vary on when they allow their patients to progress with foods - I had Dr. Zorn at Pacific Bariatric. Where did you have your surgery? Was it lap or open? Sorry for asking so many questions. Again, welcome to the group!! Guest guest
- Kay, what type of differences do you mean from Kaiser and PB?? Guest guest
one of the differences is right now you would be having soup with no chunks like cream of potato put through a blender so it will be smooth. or cream of mushroom made the same way. yes for two weeks we too had the protein shakes while having jello, pudding, yogert, tea water, and such. after the two weeks we slowly add into our meal ONE item to see if our tummy will like it one small bite at a time. Hope I have helped. Elaina at kaiser gole but not mine. 165 kaiser mine 150 or lower > > > > > > > > > > > -Hi Kay > > > Thank you for your response! Guest guest
-Shirley-- It is nice to meet you Shirley!! and Congrats on your 52.5 weight loss. Great work. You give me hope!!!! I do have the paper from PB and am trying to refer to it but it does not mention everything. Like next week I can have shrimp but I do not and never have liked shrimp so I was thinking of trying moist chicken--early. I dont know. So how does it feel to be 12 weeks out. How do you feel pain wise? What type of things are you eating? Thanks for the response Shilrey In gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients , Sunbrae@a... wrote: > ...I also had on 12-29-03. PB gives you a paper handout that talks about the different stages of food. You should try to use that for a reference. It does show the different weeks that you can start to try different things. I will be 12 weeks out tomorrow and have lost about 52.5 pounds since my pre-op weight the day before surgery. Don't try to hurry to fast to some of the foods. My first scrambled egg was not a good experience for me. I tried another one sometime after that and it was okay. Then again I tried another one and that was not good. So you are pretty much on trial and error with food. > If you don't have the paper about the food, you can call PB and they will send one to you. > Congrats on your hard work. > > Shirley > Dr. > 12-30-03 > 281.5/229/
