psoriasis and RA

Yesterday I saw a GP as I was having problems with what I thought was

tinnea or yeast on my foot. She surprised me by asking 'Have you ever

had psoriasis with the RA as this looks typical of the way it shows up

on feet?'

Well, ding dong went my brain as I have recently had some itchiness on

the back of my neck which I thought came from the soft collar I have

been wearing following neck surgery. Always something new!

I would love to hear any suggestions for relieving the white blotches

and red itchiness on my instep. Also any info / resources re RA and

psoriasis.

TIA - Barbara

Hi Barbara,

I have psoraisis in my scalp and fungus was diagnosed on my toenail. My

gp never mentioned psoraisis and RA as related. He said the treatment was

antibiotics and they only worked 80% of the time and had to be taken for

four months, and were very expensive. Well, we have two drug plans so that

wasn't an issue, but I decided against taking the " cure " . I think my

toenail is growing in normal. Right now it seems to be a normal colour but

I'll have to wait til it grows in a little more to be sure.

I am disgusted at the care we get from our health care here. Sorry I can't

be of more help.

Mike,

I hope I made myself clear in my post. My gp said antibiotics for the

fungus on my toenail worked 80% of the time and you have to take them four

months. The receptionist suggested I paint my toenail with nailpolish.

My gp really didn't take it seriously and seemed to suggest to not bother

with the antibiotics. I can find out the specific antibiotic if you like,

but it was for the fungus. And the amazing thing to me is my toenail is

growing in anew without the fungus after my gp said it wouldn't and I'd

always have it. I wonder really if it was yeast related as my yeast

problem has gone since I have stopped taking Minocin and now the fungus is

gone to, it seems.

Psoriasis is related to Sclaraderma, reitiers, and Ankylosing Spondylitis.

The antibiotics will fix this as it fixes the arthritis. My AS is about gone,

no problems very rare if I have any. So I do believe if you are taking theAP

the psoriasis will go away.

Psoraisis never eased while I was on Minocin for 22 months but seemed to

come and go. My RD was never sure if I had RA or PA but my gp says I have

RA.

,

I have noticed an increased stiffness to be sure but can't deal with the

yeast. I am still thinking of trying Minocin again.

oh Bev you should go back on the antibiotics, Try Doxy this time and take

acidolphoilus for the yeast. A little yeast is OK compared dis disease. I

want you well!!!
