Guest guest
Hi all, Ann here, from west centeral part of MN. I was wondering if there are blastocytes are in cord blood. I know that cord blood is ok and is being used for research. Cord blood being the ambilical cord from the newborn belly button to the placenta. I don't recall my cells well enough to remember this, so if somebody knows a site to look up cell production it would be fun to explore. Thanks , It sure is cold out side here!! Guest guest
Ann, No, the cells in the cord are different and may be able to be used for a specific person for specific diseases or disorders. If we were having a baby today I would ask that they save the cord for the baby and store it. But so far they have not been able to get dopamine producing neurons from anything but pluripotent stem cells. These cells may be able to be grown into any type of cell in the future, but this is the only one at present. The research has only cured PD in mice and a couple of monkeys so far also, so it may not work in humans, but that is why the research MUST go ahead and not be stopped in the USA for four years. From a cost standpoint alone, if another country developes a cure and there are 1,000,000 people with PD in the USA and each of them spent $100,000 to have the treatment in another country - how would that affect our economy. I know that I would sell my house to get Charlotte a cure. Take care, Bill and Charlotte Ann Pedersen wrote: > Hi all, > Ann here, from west centeral part of MN. Guest guest
Ann, This is Jim Stark. I was wondering how far you are from St. . I have been there several times and think MN is a beautiful state. The reason for the trips was to attend meetings at 3M headquarters. I worked for the 3M Pharmaceutical Division for twenty four years. I am on long term disability leave now because of SDS. The most memorable trip was when I went to 3M in January. In a letter they instructed me to rent a car and drive to the hotel and plant. My first thought was, these people have to be crazy. To get a south Texas boy, who saw snow about every seven years, to rent a car and drive around St. in January. Everything worked out OK. God Bless, Jim Stark blastocytes? > Hi all, > Ann here, from west centeral part of MN. I was wondering if there > are blastocytes are in cord blood.
