I recently started some B12 shots (doc recommended 1 per week) and noticed an immediate, big boost in energy and mood. After this, I also changed my adrenal support from Thorne supplements to ashwagandha (3000 mg/day) and noticed another big boost. My last round of DMSA I took 50mg (!!!) doses and had only minor symptoms! (This is enough DMSA to start smelling the sulfur in my urine - so now I know *something* is coming out...) I didn't notice much improvement with gradual addition and dose increase of antioxidants - except vitamin C which improves my energy in higher doses. Addressing gut issues was important when I first started this journey/nightmare - now, maintaining gut function is important, but has become routine. -- > I know all these issues are important and everyone is different but I'm > really interested if there is anything in particular that has stood out > and has helped you to progress in your chelation journey? > > No need to write long replies, just a few words will be fine thanks. > > Hope everyone is doing ok, > > Anne >

I wasn't on high enough doses of cortef and thyroid meds when I first started chelating. Increasing those helped enormously. Electrolytes. I need tons of sodium, and some potassium and magnesium. The other things (diet and supplements) I had in fairly good shape before I started amalgam removal. But I'm still a tortoise. Guest guest
Thanks TK, and for the feedback. I needed to know as I really don't fancy the prospect of years and years of chelation due to not being able to up my dose. Adrenal support stands out which I expected. I did a round last week after a break for a month or so. It *completely* knocked me for six especially emotionally/mentally, though during the round I felt ok energy wise, though I did feel " weird " in my head and emotionally flat. 3 days later I went completely loopy.....severe depression and suicidal feelings several times, I felt totally distraught, had bouts when I couldn't stop crying and was exhausted, blood sugar all the over the place, brain function very poor and not being able to think or communicate properly etc etc. It was hell basically! Sorry I know that doesn't make for nice reading! I think the mistake I made was only taking one extra dose of dmsa at the end of the round though the main thing is that even though I was only taking 12.5mg ALA its obviously too much for me. Also I'm not on optimal thyroid support yet and my adrenal support has been inadequate so it was no surprise really. Actually taking extra ashwagandha did help and maybe helped more than the adrenal glandulars I've been on which are next to useless! I think I have a lot of brain mercury. I only just remembered that when I had a dmsa challenge (9 yrs ago ) I still had my fillings in! Talk about brain fog! I've also taken ALA a few tmes over the years....randomly. Anyway about b12 injections.....these seem to be a big help for some people. What if you have problem with oral b12? I only realised recently that taking methylcobalamin orally gives me headaches and increases my brain fog....worse when I combine it with folic acid. Has anyone else has problems like this with methyl b12 but are ok with injections? does it matter what form the b12 is in. I know you can get hydroxy or cobalamin injections. Thanks again, Anne > > > > What do people here feel has been the most significant factor(s) >thats > > helped you tolerate higher doses quicker? > > > > I wasn't on high enough doses of cortef and thyroid meds when I first > started chelating. Guest guest
Anne, The 'hell' that you have described is about what I was like at the end of rounds of 25 mg DMSA or 25 mg DMPS without any ALA, even though I was on substantial adrenal and thyroid support, and my liver seems to be functioning well. When I cut the dose by half I was completely fine. I am ok on rounds of 18 mg DMPS per dose now. The 24- 48 h of fatigue I have at the end of rounds is manageable. When I recently did 2 rounds of 5 mg ALA per dose I did feel like it was about all I could handle. I think that TK is right, that I should stay at 5 mg ALA per dose for now. I don't think I could take the *completely* knocked for six right now. What was the dose of DMSA that you were using, and have you tried that dose without ALA? Hope you are recovering J > > Thanks TK, and for the feedback. Guest guest
Thanks , I've recovered from the emotional meltdowns but I'm *very* joyless at the moment with very little interest in anything or anyone. I think that's partly due to starting on armour with very low iron stores. Do you know if DMSA pulls iron out? I'm sure I read that once but I really can't remember. Or maybe the DMSA worsened my gut dysbiosis and my iron stores are being kept low as a response to that. I'm just looking so pale! I was on 16/17mg DMSA and 12.5mg ALA. I'd also just increased armour by 1/4 grain....that may have influenced how I was feeling eg the exhaustion. I'm waiting for stronger adrenal support to arrive and then I might try a round just on DMSA which I've never done before and see if that makes a difference. Or just have 1mg of ALA or something! Thanks again, Anne > > > > Thanks TK, and for the feedback. Guest guest
Thanks Steph, Yes I think my low mood is definitely mostly due to low iron stores. I did wonder whether iron could be depleted with chelation. I do take a supplement, but not every day. I'm sure sometimes it makes me feel more toxic though its probably a good idea to ensure I take it following rounds. Yes I take antioxidants..... vit C, E, CoQ10, acetyl-l-carnitine, selenium.
