Guest guest
My doc is taking me off Nortriptyline 75mg and putting me on Remeron 30 mg. And I'm suppose to slowly decrease the Zoloft from 200mg to 100mg over 2 wks. Anybody have any experience with Remeron? I sleep but awaken 2 - 3 times a night and wake up worse than when I went to bed. Pat in STL Hi Pat, I'm on Remeron, 45mg. I was put on it because of depression, but also because of my insomnia since Remeron has a sedating effect. I like it because I go to sleep the most naturally that I have in a couple of years. I take it a little while before I want to go to sleep. I'm also happier and it's had the nice effect of lowering my anxiety. I feel like I sleep fairly well on it, although I've been going through a flare here lately, and so am not sleeping quite as well. I do dream on it. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Sorry for speaking out here, but boy, I get so concerned when I see how much meds the doctors give out. My mother died from pills.....they caused so many different symptoms that she had to take pills for the symptoms. I have been lucky in that I can bear the pain I guess.....(cry when that is bad:-) But, I try to stay away from meds as much as possible. (Even tho it looks like a pill arsenal in my medicine chest) By the way...I do take the Wort pills when I need to ...and for me they work right away..like in a day or two.....I never have to be on them for more than a week it seems, as I realize I am back in the land of the living. I don't mean to imply it is bad to take meds, but boy, please be careful. I find the docs are so easy to prescribe everything.....and don't seem to concerned about it. I don't think you need to apologize, Jill, you didn't say anyone who takes medication is whimping out! :-) I would think with what happened to your mom (sorry to hear that!) you would be very concerned. I think you bring up a valid point, it helps if you only have one or maybe two doctors giving you prescriptions. It helps even more if you get them all filled at the same pharmacy so that drug interactions can be caught if the doctors don't catch them. By the way...I do take the Wort pills when I need to ...and for me they work right away..like in a day or two.....I never have to be on them for more than a week it seems, as I realize I am back in the land of the living. Jill In my particular case, I had tried to struggle through for several years with each year adding another death or large family problem. I knew I couldn't do it on my own when I started to tell my husband we should be giving away my crafting supplies (which is my outlet) because I wasn't using them. I've always heard that giving away of possessions, especially ones that mean a lot, is a warning sign of a major depression if not suicidal. I wasn't suicidal, but I wasn't keeping up with the world either. I had gotten to the point where I needed a doctor's help. I've gotten it, and to be honest with you, I haven't been this happy in years. I had forgotten how good it felt to feel like this. And when I can, I've gone back to crafting as well. Guest guest
Hey Darcy, this was interesting to me, as I was giving my possesions away also! I just figured I'd probably die soon and didn't need them. I had *many* people die with in a year, and because of that, I do have a sort of paranoia about dying.....not the dying itself, but just not being ready when it happensLOL....hope you know what I mean. I understand about your crafting. I was doing the same thing with my horses... Glad you are feeling so good.....<big hugs> Jill RE: Medication adjustments Sorry for speaking out here, but boy, I get so concerned when I see how much meds the doctors give out. Guest guest
I took Remeron for a while for sleep. At first I was overjoyed to get such good sleep. Even though it continued to help my sleep, I developed one little problem. I got to where I wanted to punch my fist through a wall the next day. This went on for about a week before I talked to my doc and he took me off of it. No more wall punching! I am now on Ambien for sleep and so far so good. Hope you are having a good day. Guest guest
Hey Pat, I always heard dreaming about snakes was something to do with sex..:-) seriously I did read that before! Jill Re: Medication adjustments Regarding Rememron again.... I take it about 7:30 and go to bed at 9PM. It takes me a little while to get to sleep, less that 45 min. Then I wake up about 3 AM and can't get back to good sleep. I have to get up at 5AM. AND, my dreams are sooo vivid! And last nights was frightening...I HATE snakes!! If this is a frequent side effect I'm not going to take this stuff anymore. I don't trust the list of side effects in any drug book. They HAVE to list almost everything and it can scare you to death, even as an RN. Plus I'm still tired, so tired. Any insites? Pat > I took Remeron for a while for sleep. Guest guest
Yeh, I heard that too. I would have believed it with my first husband who turnd out to be a snake in the grass! LOL But this second one that I've been with for seven beautiful years...well...I don't want this board to be X-rated.<BEG = big evil grin> Pat > > I took Remeron for a while for sleep.
