Guest guest
She made it. We moved into her dorm yesterday. It was an experience. ( We moved our son into a dorm in 1997 so I knew what to expect.) Her dorm has 16 floors and only 3 elevators. There are about 30 students on each floor. The guys are on the odd floors and the girls on the even. is on 6 and her boyfriend is on 5. It's been harder " letting go " than I expected but I will get use to it. called this afternoon already. A sophomore she knows was showing her and around campus and then showing them the nearest Target or WalMart store. ( all that important stuff). She sounded wonderful and happy. Geting ready to go was quite an emotional roller coaster. I have had more tears than I had planned on. Happy ones but still tears. Oh well. I was just fine until she packed Snowy and Stitich ( gave her Stitch for Christmas) on top of the bedding. Snowy is a white (now dingy) old stuffed dog that is shaped more like a teady bear. It has long floppy ears. Snowy has been around since was 4 . He has been through many many OR and recovery room trips. The recovery room nurses even remembered him he was such a frequent visitor. She did take the last hospital band off his leg for the trip. Snowy even has cut and stitched ears where gave him his ear surgery when she was little and just home from the hospital. I smiled at her and said, " I sure hope Snowy likes U of A " then promptly went to hide and cry. Who would have know when Snowy first came to live with us that he would go to college too. She had tons of stuffed animals but only two other little ones are packed. I also had the honor of upacking Snowy and putting him on her bed at college when we made up her bed. and Snowy will get along just fine. I have to " let go " and am doing it slowly. Her dad is having an easier time but he has done his share of " remember when " . I go back to work/school on Monday and the students arrive on Tuesday. I will soooo busy I won't have time to think about as much. As everyone's school year begings I will you well. There are always adjustments for the entire family.
