I can't help you there, Charlotte only uses florinef. Are you taking

Amantadine?

That can cause some problems like you describe.

Take care, Bill and Charlotte

You mentioned that " my fingers are red, and my toes too------blood pooling?

" usually when blood pools in an extremity, it turns blue rather than red

because it is not circulating and picking up oxygen. This is cyanosis, a

sign of blood which is getting CO2 and not oxygen. On the other hand, red

blood is full of oxygen.

Even knowing this, I would go see a doctor soon. It may be tissue being

irritated, like in a reaction from a medication or you are doing something

to cause it without knowing it.

Jim Stark

: My mom just started taking promatine last week. The

pharmacist at first couldn't find it because he was looking for the

other name " Midodrine " . However the doctor said it had been around

for a year or two so I found the other name--proamatine and located

it

finally.

I would mention however that the red fingers were a symptom

my mother had BEFORE she took this medicine. I was quite astonished

to see that beet red color and our caregiver almost insisted on going

to the emergency room but it soon looked more normal and I tried to

forget about it. The neurologist said we might have had the bp cuff

on too tight to cause that but I think not. At least it was only a

single incident.

So far the proamatine hasn't done much to improve the blood pressure

problem but I think it might take three or four weeks to notice

improvement. We take the three bp's when we get Mom up in the

morning--lying down, sitting and standing. Her aide also takes it

sitting up a couple of times during the day, just so we'll have

something to show the doctor. I'd be interested in your results as

well. Considering the $365/month price tag I am hoping it is a

miracle!

<<,

Warren takes ProAmatine 3 times a day along with Florinef. It does take

some time to show results. He has been on them for over a year now. I

understand that ProAmatine is not the same as Midodrine as I asked our

Pharmacist if it was the generic form of Midodrine, and he said no it was a

different medicine. Also I understand that it works for shorter periods of

time than Florinef.

As for the red toes & fingers, Warren's feet are quite red most of the time.

Dr's don't seem to worry about it as long as they aren't swelling. Never

had red fingers.

Sorry can't be of more help,

S.
