Guest guest
I sent this to Barbie before I realize the group does not have a copy. Martha in reply to bipolar It is a good start just to be able to talk and write about how you feel. It is important to keep taking your medications and never miss them. If you miss the medication it gets out of your system. This is something that has to be taken every day for it to work correctly. Another thing that you can do is to continue to go to your doctor's appointments and have them take blood work/lab work and to be sure that you are where you should be on medications. It is also very helpful to go talk to someone about your stress, pain, hurt, and your life. Not as someone that can't be helped, but as someone that has a disorder. We who have rheumatoid arthritis and other connective tissue diseases too must talk to someone and we often get depressed as well. Go to a mental health clinic or to someone along with the medication. You are probably doing this already. You do not have to get " worse " with this condition at all. Bipolar is a condition that can be controlled. I have a friend in Fort Worth who for over 20 years now has been on meds and she is doing fine. She is an health administrator in fact. So there is hope and help. The fact that you wrote us is a start. However, you need a support group as well with people going through a lot of what you are going through. It helps. I am not a specialist in bipolar disorders. I am a counselor who deals with children who have been through a lot of hurt and abuse and work at a mental health clinic. A lot of adults are going through similar times as you. You are not alone. There may be a support group in your area that meets weekly in your own neighborhood you could go there. Call your mental health clinic or ask your doctor. Blessings to you and your family. Martha - a member of rheumatic support group.
