Re: rheumatic New Member, Also

From: Trickey <jrtrick@...>

Dear ,

Hi, I'm Trickey. I've been on the AP since May '99. My symptoms

started in Jan. '99 and it took 3 months to get a diagnosis of rheumatoid

arthritis. I started on the abx the next month. I had a herx reaction for a week

that was very bad(could barely get out of bed, couldn't walk more than a few

feet at a time) after the initial round of clindamycin IV's. After that it's

been a slow process, but I am getting some better. I believe I will continue to

improve but it takes time. As for being tired, well that will improve too but

you will probably have times when you wonder. I got kinda discouraged after

about 3 months and asked my rheum if we should be doing something else too and

he told me that you have to look at it in blocks of time, not day to day. Ask

yourself in 3 months, are you better overall than you were before you started

treatments? I had to answer yes even though there are some really bad days

thrown in there. I have found my really bad days decreasing though and I'm

guessing you will too. Hang in there and keep us up to date. Write when you get

depressed or if you're having a really good day, just to share it. I love

reading how everyone else is doing and it helps me measure my own progress. This

is the greatest group of people. Remember that unless someone has experienced

being in constant pain for a long time they can't really understand how you

feel. My family is wonderful and sympathetic but really only the people here

know how it feels and just knowing your not alone I hope is a comfort to you.

Believe me I understand that you're sick and tired of being sick and tired!

As I'm sure you've noticed you get both inspiration and imformation on this

list and if you need an extra dose of the former subscribe to the APChat list

too. I'll be praying for your speedy recovery and a day filled with energy! ....

Dear Group, I am a new member, scleraderma, AP one month, and have

found your site to be a life saver. Ordinary people like me making our

way. I say this because I am in Billings, Montana and there is no

support group here much less an understanding community. I do have good

friends who are wonderful and a supportive family with the exception of

a teenage son who tells me I'm not much good for anything these days as

all I want to do is sleep. That hurts. However, it is true that all I

want to do is sleep. How long did this phenomenon last for you? Any

advice?
