Guest guest
Group, I have dermatomyositis. My muscles are wasted and I am down to 100lbs. I have been taking my temperature 2 or 3 times a day and it is generally between 99F and 101F. I feel cold most of the day - usually the tops of my hands and feet and across my shoulders. At night I get quite warm. Only occasionally do I sweat. From what I have read on body temperature regulation it depends on skin blood flow; infection, viral or baterial, inflammation, administration of some drugs, dehydration. I drink at least 6 glasses of water a day;eat as much as I can to try and put weight on. Am I doomed for now due to the fact I have skin inflammation due to my disease which is probably bacterial in nature. I am presently taking 100 mg Minocycline-lederele generic- twice a day. I am also on biaxin and cipro for an underlying microbacteria branderi infection which has been erradicated as far as the infectious doctor knows andI will probably be taken off of the cipro and biaxin when I see him on Feb 15th. I am quite sure that as long as I am giving off all this heat, all my caloric energy is going to produce this heat and therefore will not gain any weight. Hope I am not rambling. But I am so tired of feeling so tired all the time. Hope someone can offer some suggestions. The doctors I ask just seem to shrug their shoulders or shake their heads and say " It's just your disease. " I'd be willing to take their word for it if they at least said it with some conviction.
