Guest guest
Hi, I was prescribed a liquid children's antibiotic to take for the open part of my incision and for a severe kidney infection. I was able to take it for the first two days but, now I am dumping within minutes of taking it. I know that must be it because I am not eating or drinking anything else. Everything either makes me nauseous or even gag. Water was the only thing I could handle, now I can't even stand that. I started getting sick from it yesterday afternoon but, I kept trying to get it in since it is all I am able to get in without dumping it seems. I have tried all my no sugar added juices and they make me dump. Nothing comes back up so I am pretty sure there is not stricture it's just that it make me so uncomfortable. The water still tastes fine but, my tummy doesn't like it. What should I do? Tami 1/22/04 Dr. Zorn
Guest guest
Don't hesitate to call the PB surgeon on-call. I had to call on a Sunday after I got home, and Dr. Leo couldn't have been nicer. They may need to call in a Reglan (anti-nausea) prescription for you. But, like Ramona said, you should probably also be checked out locally to make sure you are not dehydrated. pascha > Hi, > > I was prescribed a liquid children's antibiotic to take for the open part of > my incision and for a severe kidney infection. Guest guest
Tami, I honestly don't think you should be takeing a liquid childrens anything unless you can look on th eback and see what it sais about sugar. If it has anything related to sugar you should stop it asap call advice nurse tell them your situation and ask what you should take if anything. It is mostlikely the cause of your dumping. To my past knowingly most things that say liquid childrens anything is loaded with sugar. And that to us is the number one NO NO period. Also have you been takeing, Ferrous Sulfate? It is a iron pill avail at kaiser. It also helps stop dumping. Its one of the things Kaiser likes it's WLS patients take.. Just my 2 cents... Call advice nurse first before anything....I wouldnt call a docter or see a doctor that tell me to take liquid childrens nothin again unless on the bottle it clearly sais Sugar Free.... Remember sip and nibble slowly, your eating to live now not living to eat..... Guest guest
Why did they prescribe the children's antibiotic (I am assuming it is something like amoxicillan). Don't take it anymore and call your PCP or the bariatric surgeon on call at SSF Kaiser. Do this right away.TQthinking@... wrote: Hi,I was prescribed a liquid children's antibiotic to take for the open part of my incision and for a severe kidney infection.
