They can SOMETIMES use CT to " see " blockages in the intestine (if it appears the contrast you drink hasn't " gone thru " the intestine properly), but if the tumor does not cause blockage, this is much more difficult. In my own case, I had an obstructing tumor about like you describe which DID show up on preop CT (CT was for the purpose of detecting liver mets, not to look for tumor already dx with colonoscopy). <<7 X 5.5 CM>> That's a pretty big tumor though - what did they stage you as?
