Hi J'net,

I can't answer your questions. I have a different story. But, look

forward to hearing what people have to say about your hunger.

This has been my experience....

I'm 2 days shy of being 4 weeks out. I do feel hungry, but sometimes

think it is head hunger or that " it's time to eat " , meaning that

before surgery I had somewhat " set times " of when I ate....when noon

comes around I watch my soap and eat lunch and dinner is usually

between 6 and 6:30pm. I wonder if my body is still on the clock.

When I was just 6 or 7 days out my body was wanting food. Again, I

don't know if it was because I was " missing " food meaning I was

mourning food or if I was hungry. I do think my body really needed it

becasue after I ate 1 t. of scrambled eggs and felt SO much better!

It went down fine. I wasn't suposed to start soft foods for another

week!

I get that feeling of fullness only after I have eaten more than I

think I should be eating. Sometimes I think I eat too much. At one

meal the other day I ate 6 oz of food. I thought that was too much

especially since I was 3 weeks out. I don't always eat that much at

one sitting and I have only had that fullness feeling a couple of

times and it does take me 30 to 45 min to eat.

Early on I had to remind myself that I just had surgery! And I still

do! I feel so good I just don't know what to do with myself.

I keep hearing from people (new & old) how not hungery they are/were

and how tired they are/were for months. I'm not feeling that.

I know everyone is different and have to remind myself of that too.

ANYONE out there with an experience similar to mine?

J'net,

I was like you - I ate breakfast, lunch & dinner because I was suppose to,

but I never felt hungry and did not have a full feeling either. I made

sure to measure my portions so I knew I was not eating too much. Now that

I'm almost a year out, I do get feelings of hunger, and I definitely feel

it if I eat too much!! It sounds to me like you are doing fine!

Hugs,

Jen

Hi J'net,

I don't know if it is normal, but that is exactly how I felt at that

stage.

I'm no expert, but I'd say that you should eat 3 times a day.

If you can't rely on feeling hungry, then eat by the clock. 2 oz.

at 5-hour intervals is what I believe is recommended.

BTW I am 13 weeks post-op and only recently have I been hungry more

than once a day. For the longest time, I only felt hungry in the

morning - but I certainly have to deal with "head hunger" in the evening.

Hoping you're feeling well and recovering quickly.

All the best,

Kay

This is my question. Tomorrow I will be two weeks post op,

and I

have not been hungry yet. I started eating soft foods on

Sunday but

I don't seem to feel anything (like fullness) when I eat.

I'm not

sure if I'm missing the sign, or that I'm not eating enough, or

what. Can anyone tell me if this is normal. This morning

I ate 2oz

of cream of wheat cereal and about 3 bits of applesause.

I never

felt full, but then again I never felt hungry. Should I be

eating

food three times a day? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

J'net

Hi when I first started this journey, I never felt hungry and had to

watch the clock and be sure I eat or I would get sick, like weak and

shaky. Like I would assume you feel with low blood sugar. But I

would feel full with very little food. Now I am 4 months out, I

ocassionally get hungry but I still get full quickly on small

amounts, maybe 5 oz. And the big thing I notice is how terrible I

feel if I make a mistake and eat too fast. So I have to constantly

remind myself to eat slow and chew chew chew. Just my experience.

Everyone is different and it changes and evolves as you go! Debbie
