Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I have taken Synthroid since 1980, after my Thyroid was removed. One of my doctors started me on Elavil for FMS in 1997 and I took it until another doctor took me off it a couple of years ago. It did help me to sleep a little better, but didn't make a huge difference. But then, I do live on Coca-Cola every day...that is the *only* thing I drink. I did have quite a bit of weight gain when taking it. The main reason my doctor took me off it is that my liver enzymes elevated while taking it and she decided maybe I should stop it. (The enzymes haven't gone up any more since) I've been on Serzone for FMS and depression for almost a month now. I do seem to be resting somewhat better on it. Guest guest
How many on the list are taking or have taken Elavil for FMS? I just started it a week ago after trying Prozac for a month (it gave me insomnia - not good for us!). I am on Remeron for depression. After loosing my mother, my grandmother, my MIL, my father, my FIL and fighting with my brother while settling our dad's estate, in only 6 years, I finally gave up fighting and trying to be " strong " . About the point where I was considering giving away all my (cherished) craft supplies " since I wasn't using them " , I recognized I was heading to the bottom. I have to say, I'm much happier now, and actually get to sleep every night. Much better than before. By the way, I think part of my improvement is due to the liquid minerals I've been taking (sold at Sam's Club). I've been on them for two months, and I can tell big difference! Anyone else try this? Which liquid minerals are you speaking of? I take vitamins C, A & D, calcium, E, zinc, and ginger every day. If I miss more than a day or so, I can tell a difference. I also try to take some protein pills from GNC which I think help me a lot as well. I dislike taking them since they seem to catch in my throat (they are originally horsepills! They are so big, they're the only pills I've seen with a choking warning on the label! Even cut down, they seem not to go down easily.) so I'm not as diligent about taking them. I'm always on the lookout for anything thing that might help. I can't take regular multivitamins since the regular vitamin C hurts my stomach. I can do the estered vitamin C just fine. Thanks Darcy

Guest guest
We should start a club for people like us...I lost my mother my father my grandmother, our dog, and a beloved horse and a failed adoption after 12 years, all in a matter of a year. That was 6 years ago. I have taken elavil. It helps alot, actually, but has helped me put on tons of weight in a short time. :-( I also take synthroid. (thyroid surgery years ago.) Right now I am off all meds, except synthroid and advil and excedrin. Jill I take women mega vitamins from GNC RE: Elavil and Synthroid How many on the list are taking or have taken Elavil for FMS? Guest guest
Dear Sharon, I too take Elavil for sleep and I find that it really helps me sleep more soundly. I usually only take it if i am having troubles or if i start to feel as I may have a rough night getting to sleep. I like the fact that it helps me get deep sleep but i think for me it makes me sleep too soundly. It is hard to believe that is even possible since a lot of us have trouble getting a good nights rest to begin with. When I take the Elavil i wake up really dragged down.and un motivated. I am wondering if anyone else experiences the same effect. Please feel free to share and if you know a way to " snap out of it " let me know that too. Sometimes I put off taking it because of that reason. Good luck w/ it. It does effect all people differently as do most meds. Guest guest
I take Elavil for sleep. I don't know if you were told this...You have to take the Elavil about 2-3 hours before bedtime, or you WILL NOT get up in the morning. Guest guest
Carla, Thanks for the input. It's reassuring to know that someone else gets groggy on Elavil! I have started taking it as early as 6:00 pm so it won't interfere with too much of the following morning. I've felt much better today, but I've drunk two cups of caffeinated tea! I had been de-caffeinating myself. I'd rather do a bit of caffeine, if that's what it takes! Sharon

It has 74 minerals, plus Vitamin C, Aloe, and antioxidants, plus ginseng, ginkgo, and mint teas! It is amazing, and it tastes wonderful! You drink 2-4 tablespoons per day (I take 4), and it is much nicer than swallowing a bunch of pills. I also take one Centrum per day. Guest guest
Sharon, How much does the liquid minerals cost? (if you don't mind me asking?) Does it make you feel less dragged down and groggy ,and does it make an all around difference in how you feel in general? I have been having the worst week that i have ever had this week and i am looking into something that will help pull me out. (something good that won't be a waste of time and $$ to try). thanks once again...Carl'a Re: Elavil and Synthroid > Darcy wrote: > Which liquid minerals are you speaking of? I think that is making a big difference for me now. My nails are actually long again! I had been so used to shorties (from the constant breaking) that it's weird having long ones again. I am not pain-free, but I am so much more a part of the world around me. As I said, I have only been on it for two months, but my hubby is convinced. He's going on it tomorrow! My FIL put me onto it. He's had arthritis for years, and he has been taking the liquid minerals for about four years. He loves it! Sharon

Carl'a, You're so very welcome! I think we're all helping each other! I take the Elavil around 6 pm, and it finally kicks in around 9:30. Since I have a slow thyroid, I metabolize medicines slowly. They take longer to kick in, and the effects last longer. By the way, I have a " yippee " for the day. I stayed on our tread mill for 10 minutes today! That's a big deal for me!
