Guest guest
Hey Matt, How are you..I sent the note about 10 % weight loss. It only has to be recorded by your primary Doc. In your chart it has your weight, all he (or she) will do is verify the weight loss. So don't worry about it, as long as you TRY to loose it ( hope you do ) your Doc will chart it. As far as protein, I went to several weight loss WLS sites and you can order samples of various protein drinks and bars to try instead of buying a big jar of one you might not like. There are several sites to use, I use www.BariatricEating.com as one the other is another good site is www.wlssuccess.com My routine is a protein shake for breakfast, protein bar for lunch, sensible dinner. I have cut most all carbs & sugars..eat mainly fish, chx, turky, and once a week meat, meat is hardest protein to digest. As far as excersise, WALKING is best, next to swimming, I do both and alternate days so it does not get boring. At UCLA the goal is 10 percent and starts when your PCP submitts the documents, so as long as by the time you see your surgeon you have acheived at least 80 percent of your 10 percent you will be OK, for me my goal was (365) 30 - 35 lbs and 80 percent of that was 24 lbs, so when I hit (341) 24 lbs I was within range. Of course the object is to loose as much as possible prior to surgery so since I still have another month til surgery I hope to loose more than the 10 percent... Anyways, Happy weight loss to you, for the last time !! Jeff
Guest guest
No, No, NO!!! At Richmond at least, ANY WEIGHT LOST BEFORE EITHER ORIENTATION OR INITIAL CONSULT WITH THE SURGEON (whichever is sooner) DOES NOT COUNT TOWARD THE 10%! Anything the PCP charts is irrelevant! Check with the bariatrics program where your surgery will be performed to verify. I know, this is an incredible DISincentive to lose weight, but that's the way they do it! For protein drinks (which Richmond does not recommend but I (and many others) do), try www.vitalady.com. You can get samples of most of the almost 90 flavors she sells, and she also has all the supplements, etc. She is also a great resource of information and advice! Hope that helps!
