I am JUST NOW starting this process. The only thing I've been told is I have to attend a 2 hour orientation before I can even ask my PCP for a referral. I made the appt for the orientation in Sept - and the orientation is Nov. 10. I have an appt for my (new) PCP to ask her for a referral on Nov. 18th. Good for you!! Jackie Consultation Date Well I am on my way. I have my consultation appointments at Pacific Bariatric on 11/26/03 with Dr. Rumsey. When I started this journey it seemed so long, that I wasn't at all excited. Now I am starting to get stoked. For those of you out there who are at Kaiser in Fontana, I asked my doctor about gastric bypass in July, started the 12 week nutrition class at Kaiser in late July, finished in early October, and got my authorization number on October 31st. Now I have my consultations on November 26. It didn't take as long as I had heard it takes. The nutrition/bariatric surgery class at Kaiser helped, because the doctor in charge there ordered all of our labs for us and they were done before the class was over. My own doctor also helped by signing off the psyche eval the day she received it, and sent it on to R. in L.A. within two days. I will post another message after my consultations and hopefully will have a surgery date. I want to thank everyone at this site for your words of encouragement over the last few months.
