Hi,

I posted last night, (need answers very long)

I want to thank the people who answered me....thank you very much....but I have

more questions.

What I need to know is what is going on with me commom in FM?

Would you please answer yes or no to my questions.... Please feel free to

ANSWER WITHIN MY LETTER. You can

put your text between mine....such as yes or no's.

Hi ,

I have only answered an email this way (within the other person's letter) once

before, but I'll try it and see if I can get it right. I hope I make at least a

little sense. :-)

My name is Jacqui, I'm 38 years old, divorced and live with my Himalayan cat,

Jasmine, in a trailer just behind my parents house in a very small town in West

Virginia. I've never worked outside the home and used to receive SSI, but lost

it when I got married. Since the divorce, I have been fighting to win it back,

but have been denied repeatedly. I now have a lawyer and am waiting for a date

to be set to go before the judge.

I have Fibromyalgia, some Arthritis, TMJ Syndrome, on rare occasions,

Intra-Occular Migraines, Allergies and an ever-recurring sinus infection, severe

Periodontitis, dry skin, to the point of cracking open and bleeding a little,

slight Mitral Valve Prolapse, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, swelling of feet and

ankles, sometimes hands, and have been dealing with recurring Thyroid Cancer

spread to my lungs ever since 1979. My most recent recurrence being in June,

2000 and I had to be treated with Radioactive Iodine again.

Do you or anyone you know of feel all the crazy sensations I do???? Shocks,

feelings of a stretching sensation? arm or legs feeling heavy and

deadlike....?

I am very curious about the shock and stretching sensations....I never saw a

post concerning that.....

Answer: I haven't had any shock-like sensations. I have had the stretching or

pulling sensation in my legs, neck and lower back, but only every now and then.

I again will mention the itching sensation in back, where I have to scratch

it....are these thing common?????

Answer: This particular part of your symptoms is of interest to me because up

till now, the only other time I have heard someone have this happen is my mom

and my sister. Neither of them have been checked for FMS or CFS, so I have no

idea if it could be related or not. I do know that my mom has nerve damage and

her doctors have said that could explain her never-ending itching area in her

back. She and my sister both have experienced this for several years...they say

the more they scratch, the more it itches. They also both have a 'crawling'

sensation in the same area.

Moving I feel some sensations in my back, not always shocks or stretching,

but just knowing there is something going on in my muscles. Unpleasant type

feeling...not really pain. (aggravating)

Answer: That's very much the way my sister describes it. Not really pain, just

annoying and weird, she says.

Legs I feel they have to get going when sitting.....or getting up from

sleeping need effort to straighten them....get up like old lady, can't just

hop up.... but I can walk for long periods......such when shopping, but then

when I am home.....I don't do anything else after

that.....tired....beat....but my legs aren't in pain.

Answer: My legs are stiff when sitting or standing for any length of time. Many

times, I have to make a real effort to get them moving when I wake up. It's even

worse if I've been standing a long time though. As someone said, , I think,

I look like enstein's Monster, or the Mummy sometimes when I'm trying to

walk. I can't walk for long periods, it hurts too much and my feet and ankles

begin to swell.

Forearm is almost constant annoyance....heavy weight.....and some

pain.....forearm is by biggest complaint......

BIG pain in upper arm where bicep and triceps connect (?) only lasting 30

seconds or so...then it is gone. (outside of upper arm)

Answer: I have pain, stiffness and heaviness in my forearms, wrists and hands,

sometimes worse than others. I have pain and stiffness in my shoulders. At

times, I have to use my left hand to hold my right arm up just to brush my teeth

or brush my hair.

Some tingling in face......(just felt that...you know...I forget all the

crazy things happening)

Answer: I have had a little tingling, or weird feeling in my face, but not

often. Lately, I have been having trouble with the nerve under my right eye

twitching.

I didn't go into pain....because honestly I am not in horrible pain.....but

I always feel something how to describe.....tiredness somewhat achy

someplace always....not always same body part.....like I have been doing

sometime forever.....when in kitchen standing up... my upper back hurts,

deep deep inside between my shoulder blades and all I want to do is do sit

down.....or hunch over from the waist...after sitting down...I do feel

better.

Answer: I can't say that I'm in 'horrible pain' constantly, but I am always in

pain of one degree or another. My legs and back of my neck never stop aching,

but sometimes they throb. I am also one of those people who more than the

lightest touch causes pain, especially my legs. Even wearing pantyhose has

caused me pain, so I rarely wear them anymore.

I am also so tired all the time, that taking a shower or cooking a meal is a

huge deal for me. I lie on the couch as much as I can get away with.

Hips...no pain, lower back no pain.....just the occasionally stretching

burning feeling in rear...just a thin line of this feeling.....a few inches

starting from waist into my rear end. Mostly when I bend down at the

waist....

Answer: I do have pain and stiffness in my lower back and hips which get alot

worse when I'm on my feet, like going to the mall, for instance.

Neck.....or should I say back of head.....pain...but this is usually only

when looking a computer. Pain into hairline in back of neck.

Answer: I have pain there too. Yes, sitting at my computer makes it worse, but

bending forward, like when I'm washing dishes or reading or writing is worse for

me. I have been told by a couple of doctors that the back of my neck and

shoulders are like rocks too.

Forgetting how to spell things....missing letters when I write.....Is this

Fibro Fog??

Answer: Yes, I believe it's Fibro Fog. I used to be a very good speller, but I

am slipping steadily. I do mix up the letters sometimes. I was never good with

numbers, but I'm getting worse than I was. I jumble words when I'm speaking,

turn things around backwards. It's getting pretty common for me to forget what I

was talking about in mid sentence, or have to struggle for the words I'm looking

for. I also noticed that I'm losing the ability to comprehend what I read. I

mean I have to read the instructions on a TV dinner, one that I have fixed for

myself many times before and should know from memory what part of the film cover

is removed and what part is left in place. I read it over and over out loud to

my mom and still have to ask her again what I just read.

Feeling like I slept in the same position all night.

Answer: I have that too, even though most nights, I am turning over in bed

constantly, trying to find a comfortable position, which I rarely do.

I know this is long....forgive me

Please don't apologize. That's what we're here for. Besides that, I'm sure you

noticed I can get long-winded too lol. Oooh, one more thing... please ignore the

date on my posts. I have a very old computer that was not Y2K compliant and the

only way to keep it working after 2000 was to change the date back so it's not

2000 yet. It's annoying, but it worked. I don't know if I helped in any way, but

I hope so. Take care!

Gentle Hugs,

Jacqui

Sure sounds like it to me! The reason I say that is

pretty specific, too. When you mentioned about not

being able to spell words like you used to, that's

what clicked for me. I don't have any problem with

spelling but I do with numbers. I can't do numbers at

all any more. I transpose them, can't add them, can't

subtract them, can't multiply them and I sure as h*ll

can't divide them.

> Would you please answer yes or no to my

I'll try....

Understood... but pain is a really, really hard thing

to describe. Some people think a stubbed toe is the

end of the world and others can take a broken leg with

barely a flinch. It just makes it hard to describe

it. It's not measureable in a substative way.

That might be what triggered it.

Yes.

Yes.

Well, I haven't experienced that... except in that

normal sorta " gotta scratch my back " kind of way.

More like a " pulling " sensation?

That sounds like me... Yup.

This, I suspect, is something most of us deal with.

And it's a negative feedback loop. We don't exercise

because it hurts... and then we lose some of our

muscle tone...so it hurts when we try to move to keep

from losing our muscle tone but it hurts too much.

Make sense?

That doesn't sound so familiar to me....

None of that here.

That sounds about right, too. It kind of comes out of

nowhere sometimes.

Yup.

I don't have that. Mine seems to be mostly in my legs,

my arms, my back and my head. :)

No.

I think it might be. Like I said, I have the same

thing with numbers and sometimes I have a lot of

trouble with concentration. Maybe someone can answer

this for both of us.

> Feeling like I slept in the same position all night.

Nope.

> I know this is long....forgive me

'S ok. The thing is that I think everyone is going to

experience this just a bit differently. For some of

the stuff you've described, btw, I've found Tai Chi

helpful.

Hi Sher and ,

I can top the two of you, I can't do either anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I told this group before that it got so bad with numbers that I kept giving a

30% tip at resturants that I go too, my husband bought me a " tip card " it

gives you the amount to tip for 15% or 20%. I am sure it was worth his

money! LOL

Spelling is funny too, I was looking up the word " comedy " in the dictionary

and I had to ask how it was spelled!!!!

So take heart (if this is the right phrase) that you are not alone, and I

have both of these fun problems!!! :)

Does anyone have any idea what causes this?

Physically, I mean? I used to be a quick thinker and

could always keep up. I find now that I am usually a

few steps behind others. That's ok as long as they're

not telling a joke! :) It's rather embarrassing to get

the punchline after everyone else has moved on!

What is it called? What causes it?

No to the " shock " feelings, but sometimes my arms and legs do feel heavy and

deadlike, fatigued and all.

I do get itchy, but it might be from dry skin and all.

FM doesn't have to be " intense " pain, it can feel like the " flu " type of

feeling also - BLAH type. I notice that all days and hours are not the same

at times. Sometimes I am all over, others I am in certain areas.

This happens to me when I lay down. I feel that I have to keep them moving.

I was told it was RLS (restless leg syndrome). There is a good website that

Pat sent us it is:

NO, but not everyone is the same.

My face, mostly the jaw gets tight and hurts after a while from being tight

and I don't even know that I am doing it. I know that my fingers and toes on

occassion have tingled, like they fell alseep and this is one of FM

sympstoms. I do not know for sure, but I would assume the face could also be

part of it too.

Yes all that is FM, at least it sounds like it. It can feel like a flu to

being hit by a truck and dragged for miles. There are days that change too,

and hours sometimes.

Could be.

Could be, but also a pulled muscle or tendon.

Yes, I have had that on occassion. FM strikes me anywhere and all over.

Especially when I am in the same position too long.

Do you have the monitor facing infront of you? My sister had hers to the

side and got a horrible pain in the neck and I told her that is from having

her neck turned and all when she is at the computer. When she placed it

infront of her she lost it. Try it!

This is part of FM, fog I guess. I hate that!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I get very stiff and swollen in the night, they call it morning stiffness and

it takes me a while to get my body up. So I would say yes to this one too.

To be really sure take this email, that you wrote into a doctor and tell him

all the symptoms, they will know if there could be something else.

Since FM is different in many cases, you never can be too sure.

I hope this has helped.
