Guest guest
Hi Folks, I saw Dr. Baggs last Thursday. I have my 10% goal weight and he says that I quite possibly could give myself a 40th birthday present as soon as February!! One of the fist questions he asked me was where my support folks were. I hadn't known to have them come along. So my Mum is flying up from SoCal for the orientation on 1/20. Anyway, for those folks just starting on the road, take your support crew with you. This path is something you can't do alone. Onto another note... Does anyone have some suggestions for menus while on pre-op diet? Part of my problem is that I live alone and have never gotten use to cooking for 1 instead of an army :-) Thanks for the help! Kerre
Guest guest
Hooray Kerre! Coming up soon! Okay, regarding menus on the pre-op diet. First of all, I eliminated almost all the carbs on that thing. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE DIABETIC WITHOUT CONSULTING A NUTRITIONIST! I only ate about half the fruit, and none of the other starches. I ate a lot of seafood, some chicken, a fair amount of beef. I really like the big scallops. What I do with them (still, post-op) is split them horizontally, sear them on a pan sprayed with Pam, when they are a golden brown, flip them and repeat. That's it! So easy, and no fussing. Deli sliced meats are nice, since they don't have to be cooked. Sardines. The Foreman grill thingies work nicely on things like pork chops. Scrambled eggs. Just concentrate on protein first. That's good practice for post-op. Good luck! PandaCat wrote: > Hi Folks, > > I saw Dr. Baggs last Thursday. Guest guest
I never followed a DIET I just ate mostly meat and then veggies. Like two little chicken breasts and a salad. I got the chicken breasts from costco they are flavored and already cooked. Guest guest
Hi Kerre, So glad to hear that things are moving right along for you. Once you reach your goal weight, everything moves really, really fast. Made my head spin. I had surgery 10 days after I got close enough to my goal weight to get scheduled. About having your support person along to your consultation and/or orientation - it is ideal if it is possible. But it doesn't seem to be mandatory. I never had anyone with me. (My husband had just started a new job and couldn't afford to miss work - and, my sister lives in Alaska.) I'm afraid I can't be very helpful about pre-op menus. I ate very simply - mostly salads with a chicken breast or tuna or somesuch. Not exciting but it got the job done. Take care, Kay 12/1/03 375 / 338 / 308.9 / ???
