Who's your doc, Kristy? I was eating yogurt and cream of wheat the day after surgery. This is weird.

Hi Kristy,

Wow! Do you know why your doctor doesn't want you to eat anything yet?

Have you had any problems?

I think the general routine is have patients start on stage II (cream

of wheat, etc.) by the second day after surgery or thereabouts.

Hope they let you eat soon.

Take care,

Kay

Hi Kristy,

Usually after you are discharged on the paper that they give you it should say that you should be on stage 2 meal plan which is soft food. That is cream of wheat, soups, apple sauce things like that. Do not use milk because that will cause a lot of distress. I was only on the liquid for 2 days after surgery and then I advanced to stage 2.

Pasha,

I broke down and had some yogurt and part of a scrambled egg after talking to

Pat B. I kept everything down and had a lot more energy. Plus I wasn't such a

B@#$% to be around after I ate. I just couldn't see not eating for 6 more

days. I thought I was prepared for this-but I don't think you can be totally

prepared until you are on the other side. Hope that makes sense. Maybe I will

try

some tomato soup tomorrow!

Thanks for the idea.

Ramona,

I think the stages are different at PB. I went ahead and ate and everything

turned out great. Funny how 1/2 a scrambled egg and 1/4 piece of toast filled

me up. It is over four hours later and I am still not hungry. So far I love my

little pouch!

Pascha-

I have not have any problems with food yet. I am using my 15 month old

daughters' spoons to eat with. I have a question about the tape strips. I know I

have the info somewhere.....Do I just let them fall off? I remember the

paperwork

saying something about trimming the fraying/curling edges, but that's all I

recall. Thanks in advance for the info.

, if you are out there, I looked for your number the other day and

could not find it. I would love to catch up with you.

Kristy,

I was told to just let the tape strips fall off on their own. Dr. Zorn said

it would take about a week (maybe he said 2 weeks), and at that point they

pretty much just came off in the shower. The few that didn't come off, I

could see that everything underneath was okay and I just took them off.

Hugs & happy holidays,

Jen

Steri-strips, or as you call them, tape strips, will fall off naturally in the shower and with daily wear. You can certainly trim the edges if they're just hanging there.
