Guest guest
Champagne offers two problems—alcohol and bubbles. But, I believe in balance and moderation so if you want to take a sip to celebrate the New Year, just do it slowly and just a little bit. Make sure you have had some protein beforehand and you should be OK. Happy New Year! Hugs, Pat B. NEED FAST REPLY PLEASE !! I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE JUST ONE DRINK FOR NEW YEARS EVE. WHAT IS OK TO TRY..HAVENT HAD ANY SINCE SURGERY. BRENDA Yahoo! Guest guest
, I can only give you my personal experiences - you may differ!! When I was about 6 months post-op, I had a few sips (maybe an ounce total) of champagne at a wedding. As far as no-no's go, it's probably one of the higher on the list since it's alcohol and carbonated! I've also had sips (again, maybe totalling 1 ounce in a 30 - 45 minute period) of red wine without incident. One of the things that my PCP stressed to me before I had my surgery, is that I will be able to eat all the foods (and drink all the drinks) I could before surgery and it's my responsibility to eat/drink them responsibly. Since my quantity is so limited, I try to make the quality the best it can possibly be!! ;-) Have fun!! Hugs & happy New Year! Guest guest
Hi Lyn, The description that you gave was a sign of dumping. One of the symptoms of dumping is perspiration. Alcohol converts into sugar which can trigger dumping. For those of you that are comtemplating a drink for the New Year please be careful. The culture that I was brought up in, we have saying that what you do on the first day of the year is what you will be doing all year round. So I don't think I am going to drink. . I hope that everyone has a Great New Year. Ramona

Guest guest
I'm 6 months post op and in the last month or so I've had 1 glass of wine on several occasions....I don't have more than that, just because I choose not too....I have not denied myself anything since having surgery...and I have been extremely fortunate with no complications or bad food reactions....we all need to listen to our own bodies....each of us is different and will react to foods and drinks differently. If you choose to have a drink of champagne, just go slow and pay attention to what you insides tell you. Happy New Year! -Chris- 6/26/03 Rumsey 354/297/207/?
