Guest guest
I would like to add that there has been some scholarly speculation that cilantros ability to act as a mercury " sponge " in the body may mean that it also concentrates mercury from the environment in the plant tissue. I react very strongly to cilantro. It is established as a naturally reseeding perennial in my garden. I don't use it medicinally, but the bees love it and if it bioaccumulates mercury from the garden soil, that's great, because SE New Hampshire, were I live, is classified as a hotspot for environmental mercury by the EPA. My adrenals and blood sugar regulation is giving me fits lately. Highly reactive to an nervous system stimulation; interpersonal situations (haggling over the price of cordwood); TV (watching the Simpons poke fun at the " Rapture " ), noise (mowing the lawn) symbolic reminders of old emotional trauma's (knives) all are challenging to me lately. Gotta get the HG out of the HPA, but hamstrung by funds. Doug. Guest guest
I've heard that it is a good, safe alternative to drugs like DMPS and DMSA, but have no personal experience with it. I was thinking of trying it, since I can't really try anything else right now while I am on ABX. - JB > > Hi everyone, > > If anyone has had any experience with cilantro it would be helpful to > describe what happened on the autism mercury site: > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/ > There have been discussions of cilantro there recently. > > It is difficult for the parents of autistic children to sort through > all of the talk about chelation and decide what is best to do for > their child. Alpha lipoic acid is not " a drug " -- in that it is a naturally occuring substance (it is synthesized for sale as a supplement. There are no sources that use extracted ALA that I've ever heard of.) It is also the BEST chelation agent for mercury (since it crosses the BBB). Don't use it if you've had RECENT exposure to mercury though (this includes amalgam replacement). The " safe " part is the issue with cilantro. Don't know how often to take it to avoid redistribution, which makes it hard to use safely. good wishes, Moria

I never got a clear answer as to whether or not taking ABX and ALA together would cause me to mobilize mercury (ALA) but be unable to excrete it (ABX), which would obviously make things worse (redistribution). I haven't found anyone yet who is doing both simultaneously. My 2 amalgams were removed about a year ago (replaced with 1 composite and 1 gold inlay- compatible according to clifford). I guess I am sort-of experimenting on myself, taking 100mg of ALA daily (for its other health benefits- not chelation) and biaxin for lyme disease. I do notice that while before I used to feel better after taking ALA, I now feel (temporarily) worse. - JB

Interesting. I'd probably take that as it is okay. There are darned few if any drug interactions that I have heard of being of concern with chelation agents, so I'd generally take it as " probably okay " . > I haven't found anyone yet who is doing both simultaneously. > My 2 amalgams were removed about a year ago (replaced with 1 composite > and 1 gold inlay- compatible according to clifford). > I guess I am sort-of experimenting on myself, taking 100mg of ALA > daily (for its other health benefits- not chelation) and biaxin for > lyme disease. I'm sorry, you ARE taking a chelation agent. It doesn't matter in the least what you think you are taking it for, you are taking a chelation agent ONCE A DAY. Try every 3 hours and see if you like it better good wishes, Moria > I do notice that while before I used to feel better after taking ALA, > I now feel (temporarily) worse. > > - JB

Try every 3 hours and > see if you like it better You are correct- it is a chelating agent, but it DOES matter what I am taking it for: I am taking it in a dosage to protect my blood vessels and help regulate my blood sugar. Regardless of its chelating properties, I need it for other purposes, and do not want to abstain from it just because I am on ABX. I can try taking it every 3 hours, but my original question still remains unanswered: " will taking antibiotics at the same time as ALA cause me to mobilize but be unable to excrete mercury? " I am not looking to mess myself up any more than I already am. This is my big concern, and it has not been addressed to my satisfaction in Andy's book or here. - JB

I am certain that if you change to ALA every 3 hours plus antibiotics that cannot be WORSE or mess you up more than the once a day.... good wishes, Moria > > This is my big concern, and it has not been addressed to my > satisfaction in Andy's book or here. > > - JB

Andy was nice enough to answer my questions regarding ALA and ABX, so I can go ahead with the every 3 hours low dose to provide both the blood sugar benefits I need and the chelation benefits that I might need as well. He actually responded before this last post, but I didn't see it in time, so I would never had made this post.... good wishes to you to, Moria. - JB
