the best place to get a diagnosis is with a good doctor. while the

symptoms sound like fibro it can also be many other things, or it could

be a combination of fibro and other things.

I would especially be concerned if after visiting a chiro you had to

wear a neck brace. Don't get me wrong, chiro's are wonderful if used for

the right reasons, I have been using one for over 20 years but I have

never left the office with my neck in brace.

Welcome Melinda,

It does sound like you do have Fibro. Birth can be a factor that brings it on.

Any physical or emotional trauma.

I checked out your daughter's site. What a little angel.

I hope that your suffering ends soon. Fibro often hits in different places

causing symptoms all over one's body.

Hi Peggy,

YOu made me feel better... Unfortunately it was about the symptom of visual

problems... Fibro is unbelievable.. Someone has to find a " cure " for this..

Everytime I turn around someone else is being diagnosed with it.. Mine

started after a shoulder impingement/bursitis,carpal tunnel syndrome and a

neck strain from my last job.. Up until then, I had no physical nor mental

problems.. Of course because fibro isn't recognized w/ compensation (or if it

is, it is near impossible to continue comp payments because they send you to

doctors that have no clue what it is,etc.etc.) and social security disability

is also near impossible to get on because of fibro...Currrently I am

receiving disability only because of the panic disorder and depression.. I

have to hold my breath daily because I am in their review status.. I don't

have a good feeling about the continuing payments... If everyone can say a

little pray for me, I would really appreciate it.. I am raising 2 small

children and am currently seperated from hubby so disability is my only means

of finances (and the measily pennies that I get from child support).. ok

needed to vent a little there.. Have a Great Day

Hi Terri:

I can relate to your visual problems. I get blurry vision and my eyes run

like crazy. I do have glasses for reading, but otherwise my vision is OK.

I dropped my jaw at the recommendation of taking up drinking too! Even if

it was a joke which it sounds like it was not, it is not a very good idea.

Maybe some doctors feel like having a drink after listening to our symptoms!

Peggy

Re: Well-

Hi Melinda,

I can not believe that a doctor has advised you to take up drinking alcohol

for your pain?? I almost fell off my chair when I read that part... Sound to

me like you have fibro/myofascial pain syndrome... I am not a doctor, but I

have experienced alot of your symptoms.. After 22 doctors, mri's out of the

wazoo, different medications, psychiatrist, etc.etc... in the past few

years..I was finally diagnosed w/fibromyalgia and myofascial pain by a super

rheumy (Dr. Romano) a little over three years ago.. He specializes in

fibro and related conditions.. He was the only one that would listen (and

not

treat me like a crazy women,ha) He ran alot of blood work and found that I

was very low in my magnesium plasma and vitamin b.... I started on Magtab sr

and fibro care (this contains malic acid).. along w/ a series of magnesium

and vitamin b injections.. This helped with the fatigue alot but didn't

damper the pain much...Ok now questions that I hope someone here can relate

to and let me feel that I am not the only one with these problems::: I have

severe visual disturbances and either lose weight or can not gain at all..

My

doctor told me that I am way underweight for my height... I eat normal, but

still lose weight and can not gain it... My visual problems are like my eyes

go 3-d and blurry. Been thru the testing for ms and all normal and my eye

doctor gave me mild reading glasses..Ok enough with the book here, ha.. I

just love this group and am so glad that I found it....

Hope all is well with everyone!!!!

Boy Terri, I have the same problem but in reverse. My doctor put me

on predizone and it made me gain weight. And no matter what I did the

weight would not come off. I didn't loose any and I didn't gain any.

For 6 years I stayed at the same darn weight. Now I am finally loosing

but it's real real slow. Like a pound or 2 a month. Also my vision

went bad because of the predizone. I had perfect vision until I took

that stuff. And now I have trouble seeing things up close. I have

been to 3 eye doctors and every set of glasses are different. One

pair made me feel like I was uncrossing my eyes when I took them off.

The other pair gave me real bad headackes. And the last pair made me

feel like I was on stilts. Like the ground was real far away. I could

hardly walk with them. So I just do without. I got me a magnifying

glasses for when I want to read small words.

Try not to worry about the review. They put everyone through it every three

years. I've never heard of anyone being taken off it. Did you mail back

the quesionnaire yet? I went through the review last year and I was so

worried that it nearly ruined my life for a month, but they keep me on with

the Social Security Disability Payments. Mine is for CFS and Depression.

I know, crazy isn't it... but true! He examined me and asked me where it

hurt. When he finished he asked " do you drink? " and I said " sometimes " he

said " you might want to consider drinking more, there is nothing I can do

for you. "

I have been taking a hot bath every morning for years and it does help.

Thanks so much Jodi... I got that excuse as well, they say I am too young

(33) and look in great physical shape.. Meanwhile, they fail to realize that

all my muscles are a result of being a cheerleader from 3-12 grade,

gymnastics and dancing.. I can't stand these people... If they only knew how

hard it is to live with this dd by the hour.. again, thanks for your support

Terri
