Guest guest
They want you to increase the capacity and strength of your lungs so taht you can recover from surgery well...take a series of veyr deep breaths each day...and I mean deep -- till it feels like you can't suck in anymore air! After surgery, you are given a breathing exerciser -- forgot the tech name for it -- but you have to use it to keep your lungs healthy. -Chris- Post-Op 6-26-03 Rumsey/PB wrote: Hi all,My surgery is coming soon (Feb 6th)!! Guest guest
Hi , What I did was get a spirometer and use it. You'll probably use a spirometer while you are in the hospital to help get your lung function back to normal. I found that using one before surgery really seemed to help - I had significantly increased my lung capacity and so after surgery I did really well. I'm not sure where you would get one in your area. I got mine over the web - but your surgery is so soon that probably wouldn't work for you. Oh . . . yeah . . . a spirometer shouldn't cost very much. I think mine was about $ 5.00. Hope that helps. Try blowing up balloons! Seriously, breathe in as deep as you can, then out. In the hospital they will give you a spirometer, which measures your breath. -- Eleanor Oster eleanor@...
