Guest guest
Hi all! I've noticed that the past couple months - while telling myself not to buy too many new clothes that I'll just shrink out of - that I'm really spending quite a bit of money on clothes! Every time I go to Target, I look at the clearance racks, and I'm feeling myself becoming almost Jekyll & Hyde-ish!! Today I had an internal argument with myself over 2 adorable pairs of shorts!! I couldn't decide if I wanted the dark gray or light gray and figured that since they were on clearance for $2.48 each I could get both. However, I didn't need them. I wanted to buy them because they fit and they were a size Large instead of an Extra-Large!! They were too short for me to exercise in and the weather is getting cooler and they'd (hopefully) be way too big for me by next summer!! I didn't buy them today, but I did buy 2 tank tops for $4 each (ones that I do exercise in) and more underwear!! (I must have a dozen+ new pairs of underwear, but I went with the daring thong-style today!! ;-) ) Also, most of my shoes are too big and need to be replaced! I was wearing a 7 1/2W - 8 (depending on width) and now I'm wearing 6W - 7 - I even bought an adorable pair of boots at Payless Shoe Source because they actually fit around my calves!! To coin a phrase from the gone-but-not-forgotten (in my household) Powter, I need to STOP THE INSANITY!!!! Granted, I never pay full price for anything, and I'm not running myself into debt doing this (I still spend less on clothes than I used to on cigarettes), but sometimes I feel like I'm trading my food addiction for a life as a shopaholic!! I've even got half my Christmas shopping done!!! I know it's the new-ness of it all that's getting me all excited. At the beginning of summer, I was just getting into an XL for the first time in 10+ years, and now I'm finding more and more L that fit, and it's all very exciting. I just need to start leaving my cash/checks/ATM card at home!! Have any of you gone through this? How did you keep from going overboard?!
