Looking back now for quite sometime, I remember fits of rage coming from no where, or brought on by " ignorant people. " I can say for a fact that I am doing a lot better in this area. For example, I had to deal with 3 WEEKS of Ameritech when I was TRYING to get my phones simply turned on when we moved a month ago. What a pain. On the day it was finally happening, I got the total run around from employees and the supervisors. I finally hung up and tried to get some air. I called back about an hour later and started reeming this young lady out for other peoples " un " knowledge. I caught myself apologizing to her, which I have never done before during a battle such as this. When I got off the phone, my mom happened to be here at our house and commented on how calm I became and that she had never heard me rip into someone then back off and apologize. I guess all I can say , is YES it does get better. Jewls
Guest guest
Before I subscribed to this mailing list, I never knew that fits of rage can be a symptom of Graves' disease. By the way, I was diagnosed fairly recently (about three weeks ago), and I have been taking 300 mg/day of propylthiouracil (PTU). I have never been one to fly off the handle easily, until about a year (perhaps two) ago. Mostly, my anger has been directed at sales clerks, government bureaucrats, customer service reps, etc.. Thankfully, with just a few exceptions, I haven't exploded at my friends or family. Today, I had to deal with a total idiot on the phone, when I called the phone company with a simple question (well, *I* thought it was simple) about my long-distance calling plan. The company representative was just trying to say anything to get me off the line. He didn't know the answer, but he wouldn't admit it. I nearly bit his head off. It took a lot of self-control to maintain some sense of composure, though I'm sure that my irritation was apparent. At the end of the phone call, I was much more upset than the situation warranted. Does this kind of thing go away over time? Like I said, I've been taking an anti-thyroid drug for three weeks and I haven't noticed any difference (yet?). --
Guest guest
Hi : I went through the same thing, I don't know how many times I said " let me speak to your supervisor " !!! It does get better after a few weeks on PTU - you will probably start seeing improvement pretty soon. The fits of rage became fewer and farther between, and even irritability was lessened. However, just a warning, sometimes when you are adjusting your dosage, the anger and irritation can spike up, but for me, it never got as bad as in the beginning. I believe that I lost tolerance to life's stupid episodes because my system was so hyped up and irritated by the hormone imbalance, there was no room for adjustments. The rage also taught me a lot by getting rid of many things in my life that were bad for me - I just couldn't put up with them anymore! Hope you start feeling a change soon! Guest guest
I'm on Tapazol since about 5 years down now to 1/2 pill a day,my eye's were quite large before I started taking the Tapazol. I was wondering if I now decide to take RAI will my eye's bulge ? Would I gain weight and get depression ? And if anyone knows would I still have the sore leg's,trouble breathing when climbing the stairs and trouble walking up a steep incline that seam's to be when my leg's get the pain, and sore of a paralysis, that I feel are similar to the lactic asid build up a runner would get. It's hard to make a decision on RAI too many things I'm not sure about. Thanks Kit. --------- BTW it takes 6 week's for the med's to work so your half way there!
