Hi Ros and welcome to our group.

I´m Arto, one of the few non-Americans of our list.

I was DXed 1983 and got the final trach tube 1986.

Do you have a speaking valve and are your vocal cords ok?

I can´t speak loudly and my voice is very low, no more singing either.

The upper part of my trachea is very narrow and vocal cords are a bit

paralyzed, so I used to fall asleep almost whenever and wherever, e.g

once when having dinner a glass of water dropped down from my hand when

I fall asleep in the mid of moving the glass towards my mouth.

I had to drive a car quite much in my ex job, so it became dangerous,

but I managed to avoid accidents.

With the tube, I got rid (more or less) of sleepyness.

Nowadays my trach tubes are narrow (or floppy), too, so no more running

either.

That´s why I have (or may) to go on Wednesday morning till the end of

next week to:

http://www.keuhkovammaliitto.fi/english/activities/anttolanhovi.htm

I´ve been a lazy reader and writer lately, so the next news possibly

after two weeks. I´ll check if it´s possible to get e-mail connections

there.

It were possible to move e-mail to a mobile phone (in our GSM system),

but never tried it and 100 messages per day with very heavy text would

explose any phone.

Or they wouldn´t go through any antennas. Isn´t it so, Roy? :-)

Voikkaa hyvin!

Arto
